11-16-05 - A school district police officer opened fire Wednesday in the parking lot of a middle school and killed a suspected car burglar, police said.
Witnesses told police that the school district officer had noticed two people looking into a vehicle in the faculty/visitor parking lot of Irving Middle School, said San Antonio police spokesman Eric Solis.
Solis said initial reports indicate that when the school officer approached the two suspects, they got into a vehicle and attempted to run over the officer, who fired two shots.
One of the vehicle's occupants was killed, and the other was taken into custody.
The school was locked down. The closet entrance to the building was more than 100 feet away from the parking lot, Solis said.
