Donations needed at red kettles in Fannin County

SPAULDING, Okla. (AP) - Two people were arrested Monday after chaining themselves to a piece of equipment at a construction site for the Keystone XL pipeline.
Organizers tell The Oklahoman that Benjamin Butler and Eamon Danzig were arrested at a work site in Hughes County. The men are part of Great Plains Tar Sands Resistance, a group that's protesting the pipeline.
About a dozen people have been arrested along the pipeline route since February.
TransCanada has proposed a 1,700-mile pipeline to carry oil derived from tar sands in Alberta to refineries along the Texas Gulf Coast. Although the northern leg of the project has not received federal approval, the company currently is constructing the 485-mile southern portion of the pipeline that will transport oil from storage facilities in Cushing, Okla., to Texas.

Posted: 12/02/2013 - Four local people recently completed at least 34 hours of training and 2 hours of courtroom observation in order to become volunteer advocates for children in foster care. The Honorable Judge Lauri Blake administered an oath to the new CASA volunteers in the 336th District Court after training was complete. New child advocates include Priti KC, Mary Norris, Dave Gehalo and Chantal Carey.
