DENISON, Tex. -- A fire in Denison reduced a house to rubble Friday afternoon. Fire officials say they do not know whether the single story house on FM 1753 was abandoned or not.

No one was home at the time, but the house is a total loss. Crews from Bells and Denison battled the blaze. The problem was that there was no hydrant nearby. Firefighters had to continuously refill trucks and then bring them back to the scene with several thousand gallons of water.

Officials say the fire was still smoldering into the late afternoon.

How do we know who set it on fire? An hour after being told he was being evicted the house suddenly goes up in flames. Coincidence?? Not hardly. And how rude of you to be so tacky with your comments during a time of sadness for my family. And when your job moves you out of state then it's impossible to live in it. You have no respect for anyone but yourself. Just remember, one day, something like this or worse will happen to you and when you get rude comments you deserve them. I will pray for you and hope tragedy never strikes you like this. You are heartless and careless and the world is better off without someone like you. Let something you have sentimental value to get destroyed and see how you feel. I now see why you posted as annonymous. I hope you make things right with God.

This house was set on fire by it's rental tennent. He was mad because he couldn't pay rent and was kicked out. The owners didn't even have insurance on it. What a loss for the whole family. It belonged to our Grandparents who passed away after 35 years of living there. We are all out of state, but still broken hearted from this loss, and hope authorities will be able to find the proof they need to arrest the man responsible for this careless and heartless act. If you don't pay rent, you should be evicted, and not have the right to destroy the home, property and lives that are associated with it. We are saddened by the events that took place and the way we found out about it... not from authorities.. but friends.
