12-22-05 - There is good news for Ardmore residents. A handful of new retail stores are about to head to town.
A “coming soon” sign just went up off Rockford Road and 12th Street near the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store. The development company Burk Collins is going to build a power shopping center called the Ardmore Commons.
Right now 55 percent of the center is filled with stores including Petsmart, Dollar Tree and Chiles. They even plan on building a new movie theatre, and Burk Collins also bought Mountain View Mall and will renovate that building and add new stores there as well.
Dan Parrott, Ardmore City Manager, says, "Very providing new store; it's pretty exciting and it's going to help us with our sales tax revenue, and I think it's a byproduct by the ADA creating the TIF that brought jobs and industry."
Construction on both projects will begin by the spring. When they're finished they will create around 400 new jobs in Ardmore.
