A cargo train struck a truck trapped on the railroad tracks in Marshall County Thursday evening. Authorities were re-routing traffc from another accident when the crash occurred.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the railroad tracks off of Archerd Road just off of Highway 70F east of Madill. Authorities say the victim was driving a blue Ford Ranger and could not get out of the way of the speeding train. The car was pushed 370 feet before the train came to a stop.
The victim was first believed to have only minor injuries, but took a turn for the worse while paramedics worked on him at the scene. He was flown from the scene by medical helicopter.
Law enforcement and railroad officials are investigating the accident.
