BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- What would you say if you could increase your car's gas mileage by 50, even 100-percent. A Broken Arrow car mechanic is a true believer in a fuel-cell technology that adds hydrogen to gasoline, which he says then burns more efficiently. It's called the Hydro-Assist Fuel Cell. Many have questions about whether it works. Randy Catlett says it does.

Randy Catlett has spent nearly 30 years as a car mechanic and knows a thing or two about cars.

"I've gone through 12 schools for General Motors on computer system on the cars, carburetors, fuel injections, diesels, rear ends, air conditionings, turbos electrical," Catlett says.

This device though is one you probably haven't seen on a car. Called the Hydro-Assist Fuel Cell, it produces hydrogen gas which is then fed into the fuel system via the regular car's air intake. When hydrogen is mixed with gasoline, Catlett says the gasoline burns more efficiently a lot more efficiently. He says he's gotten as much as 50 miles per gallon on his Ford pickup truck.

"Taking octane away, adding hydrogen in with it, which enriches that fuel mixture again."

If you think it has a too good to be true ring to it, you're not alone. Catlett understands there are lots of skeptics.

Why isn't every car manufacturer, GM, Ford, why aren't they putting something like this on every one of their vehicles?

Randy says, "If they made your vehicle go 120 miles say on a gallon of gas, big oil doesn't like that."

"I won't get into the conspiracy theory issues on all because that's not me. I just want to put a system on your vehicle that is not snake oil. We don't have to worry about the end result because we know that they're going to be there."

Catlett says the Hydro-Assist Fuel Cell is guaranteed to boost your gas mileage by 50-percent or the dealer will buy it back.

The inventor of the product, Dennis Lee, has his share of critics who claim he is a scam artist, and there are reports that he has been fined by the attorney general in several different states. Catlett though says if you don't believe the product works, you can come to the shop and you can drive his truck and judge for yourself.

I put a hydro super 2 double unit on my 97 s10 4.3 V6 auto. On the highway I added 133 miles to the tank period. That comes out to 7mpg added. Now every 2.5 tanks is a free tank of fuel at the rate I WAS consuming gas. I went from a 20 MPG average to a 27 MPG average. It only draws 22 amps and does NOT over heat. Times they are changing with new materials and tech. It is now possible to make hydrogen work for you. Hydrogen Does work with a good system and not old plastic pluming parts or old food jars. But with a well built unit.

If your interested, you can get the original product that shows you how to build it and install for about $60. This is the original that started it all. Beware of clones and thieves. You can also build these and install them yourself for others. Check it out for yourself at: http://realgon.water4gas.hop.clickbank.net/

Could you possibly tell me where I can get one of these devices installed on my car? I live approximately 90 miles south of Dallas area

I've been running an HHO Generator for close to a year now, It's saved me a lot of money. You can build your own though, it's not rocket science. This guy didn't invent it, it's been out there for years. Search GOOGLE for "Smack Booster" then build your own for pennies. I do recommend using a very good grade of Stainless Steel, #316 at least.

With less then 10 minutes of research on the Internet, you could have easily found that Dennis Lee is nothing but a scam artist. Your video does not clearly say, "scam - don't waste your money." I realize you are not legally responsible for helping this scammer along, but I feel that you are moraly responsible. As a result of this video, some poor fool may buy one of his dealerships. Shame on you.

if this were real, they would have secured independent confirmation - HAFC has been avoiding this for more than a year. Real info about the criminal history involved is found at www.phact.org/hafc.htm

Read the book "War on Freedom". We are screwed no matter who wins the next election. It's all out there, but everyone is blind to it. Do you really believe those twin towers went down because planes hit them? They were controlled demolitions...look it up and compare. WTC7 went down because of a fire??? Larry Silverstein (owner) said "pull it". Wake Up America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't believe there are POWERFUL INTERESTS that actually want an end to the middle class and war to make THEM more money, look up the documentary "monopoly men" and "America: Freedom to Fascism". Watch these films research in your library. This economy is a rerun of what happened in during the Great Depression.

Well, technically, this could and should work. It has been shown that very tiny amounts of hydrogen can help hydrocarbon fuels burn better. Hydrogen auto-ignites on contact with air. This raises the temperature of the fuel mixture till it reaches the level at which the hydrocarbon fuel can ignite. And hence, having the hydrogen there can decrease the amount of time required to make the fuel ignite, and hence also improve the efficiency of burning. And to do this, very tiny amounts of hydrogen are needed, which should not be dangerous.

Zepplin exploded because its skin was covered in airplane fuel - GAS. The Hydrogen only ignighted AFTER fuel coated skin burned off.

Dutchman Enterprises, LLC is the inventor not Dennis Lee. Dennis Lee is the CEO of Dutchman. This is Lee's claim. http://high-tech-energy-solutions.com

This is NOT a fuel cell!

What harm could there be in giving it a chance? Besides, if it doesn't work, there is a guarantee that if it doesn't work, then you get your money back. All you are basically out of is a little time. From what I understand, this thing produces hydrogen. It's not like there is a tank of it sitting under your hood. But isn’t gasoline just as volatile? By the way people, the president has no more control over prices than you do. Actually, the consumer has all the power. Our society is a free trade society. They cannot legislate what price someone can charge for their goods and services. Although they can put a price freeze on during a time of war/crisis.

Thanks, Ray. Not everyone here is a hopeless sucker. No wonder the casinos are booming. The true solution doesn't need water. My truck runs on a combination of gasoline and AIR! That's right! AIR! For more info on how to convert your own engine just send a cashier's check or money order for $250 made out to Running on Air, c/o Jimmy's BBQ, Roberta, OK. Thank you.

there is a reason why blimps use helium instead of hydrogen. just a history lesson here, remember the a-bomb? it was an atom bomb, the H-Bomb? you got it hydrogen. put a canister of that on your vehicle and hope you never have an engine issue such as overheating, backfire, possibly an electrical fire, or even a wreck. if you live to sue the guy I wish you well

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 26, 2008 at 01:24 AM
hydrogen? that reminds me of the famous blimp catching on fire and crashing. (does led zepplin come to mind?). it is #1 on the table of elements and the most unstable! I don't want a potential bomb riding with me. thanks anyway

Way to go Biggins! I goggled his name. The name Dennis Lee is all over the internet with complaints of various similar claims for various "free energy" products. The story is loaded with logical fallacies: Ad hominem, Argumentum ad populumit, wishful thinking, Homunculus fallacy. BTW:"Big Oil" doesn't care if you get 120 mph, they aren't afraid of people being conservative. The truth is there are plenty of customers in this country and China and elsewhere. And if you want to know who "big oil" is look at your selves: pension funds, 401k plans, mutual funds that include oil company stocks-these are the owners of the oil companies, not some den of evil doers plotting to steal from you. Auto manufacturers will build anything that will sell; if this technology can truly be marketable and sold to consumers then it will be

Posted by: kelly on Jun 25, 2008 at 06:51 PM
i would do it more because 'big oil'has a problem with it than i would to save money

This is a sad day for responsible journalism. In another day and time, another reporter would've profiled this scam in a "Does it work?" report, and made an earnest attempt to ascertain the bold claims made by the inventor. However, this report sounds like a 2-minute infomercial. Tsk, tsk... for shame.

You don't have to pay $1500 for a device like this nor do you have to pay $100 for the plans. The plans are free online and you can build it yourself if you tinker a little and know a little bit about cars. http://www.free-energy-info.co.uk/Chapter10.pdf

Please stop covering ignorant imbeciles without a semblance of an engineering degree who are claiming to retrofit cars to get better gas mileage. This retard went to 12 classes total in his whole life to learn to swap out GM parts and now he is designing and retrofitting. Give me a break! Let the National Enquirer cover this stupid crap. You can read more about this halfbaked scam at http://accurateautoadvice.com/accurate-auto-advice/scam-alert-adding-hydrogen-to-your-gas-wont-save-you-money/

I'm a little skeptical about the claims, but I will spend some time researching this idea, especially before making stupid assumptions concerning the cost. anonymous...here is a web site just for you: http://www.runsyourcarwithwater.com/

I CALLED THE PH # SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD NOT REACH ANYTHING EXCEPT A RECORDNG. CONSUMERS NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET A PERSON ON THE PHONE LINE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PRODUCT.

Posted by: broke Location: oklahoma on Jun 25, 2008 at 11:51 AM
who cares about big oil? Oh that's right, our current president. This is something that the presidential hopefuls should be looking into. I would vote for whoever makes it a law for all new cars and free for older models.

Posted by: Amy on Jun 25, 2008 at 11:50 AM
I'd like to know if it causes some kind of problems in the long run, too. I'm worried about this not being as great as it sounds. I'm not a conspiracy theorist ("Big Oil" not wanting us to get good mileage out of our vehicles) but I am a skeptic.

These things are about $1500.00. I could see the benefits more clearly if I knew how long does the HAFC last????
