1-3-06 - A 57-year-old Howe man is recovering Tuesday afternoon from injuries after his truck was struck by a train. Stephen Conn was driving off of FM 1417 on Farmington Road where at a rural railroad crossing a train collided with his pick-up truck.
Conn says he pulled up to the tracks and only looked to his right before trying to cross. The train clipped the front of his truck and sent him into the ditch. Conn was transported to Wilson N. Jones by ambulance with head injuries. Troopers say the train did sound its whistle, but the driver claims he is hard of hearing.
