No Plans to Remove Accused Pastor

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A reverend arrested for offering to engage
in an act of lewdness will continue to serve on the executive
committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The organization said today it has no plans to remove 59-year-old Ronnie Latham from its executive committee.

Latham, senior pastor at South Tulsa Baptist Church, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly propositioning a plainclothes police officer outside a hotel. Police say Latham's accused of asking the officer to join him in his hotel room for oral sex.

Latham has supported a convention directive urging members to
befriend gays and lesbians and try to convince them that they can
become heterosexual.
