Fire Threatens Homes in Sherman

1-15-06 – A grassfire threatened several homes in Sherman Sunday afternoon. Firefighters from Whitesboro, Pottsboro, Southmayd and Sherman were called to the scene after the fire was reported at 1:45 p.m. It spread quickly; fueled, in part, by piles of wood shavings at a construction site behind the Sherman Town Center and Wal-Mart.

No evacuations were ordered, but several homes along Forest Creek Drive were threatened.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged. Firefighters are still on the scene, but they say the fire is contained.
