2-9-06- Some Carter County Rural Fire Departments will soon get new grass fire trucks from the county commissioners. Each commissioner is taking used diesel trucks from their barns and turning them in into tanker or brush trucks.
The tanker will be able to hold up to 3700 gallons at a time. They will help six-different departments including Fox-Graham, Springer, Sneed, and Dickson.
It is costing the Carter County Commissioners around $100,000 from their budget to do the project. But they say if it saves even one life in the future, it will be worth it.
The fire trucks are in the process of being built and the departments will be reviving them within the next three months.
