2-24-06- The following is a press release from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic’s Unit and the Denison Police Department
Public Information Officer Roger Braziel stated that members of the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic’s Unit and the Denison Police Department were involved in a substantial methamphetamine bust Thursday.
According to PIO Braziel, Sgt. Rickey Wheeler said the GCSO Narcotics units had information on Donald Ray Johnson a 20-year old male from Dallas. Deputies had received information that Johnson was wanted out of Dallas County on a Probation Violation and that he may be selling methamphetamine. Deputies had information that Johnson and a friend of his Amy Ingle a 20-year old female from Sherman were at a local eating establishment in Denison. Deputies contacted Denison Police Department and requested assistance to verify that the subjects were there.
Denison Officer Donald Rhodes observed the two at the location and waited for Deputies. Just as Sgt. Wheeler arrived the suspect got into a physical altercation with Officer Rhodes. Wheeler was able to assist Rhodes and take the man into custody but not before he assault the officer. Rhodes did use his taser in subduing the suspect. The suspect suffered minor injuries to his face and chin. Neither the suspect nor the Officer required medical attention.
When the man was searched he was found to be in possession of about $2,000.00 worth of methamphetamine, marijuana and a loaded syringe. He was placed under arrest for Assault on a Public Servant, the Dallas County Warrant, Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth) 4,200 grams and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces. His bond amount has been set at $25000.00 on the possession, $10,000.00 on the assault of a public servant, $1500.00 on the possession of marijuana, and a No Bond on the Dallas County warrant.
The female Amy Ingle was taken back to her apartment in Sherman where deputies conducted a search. In the apartment were meth pipes, packaging materials, baggies, scales and a quantity of methamphetamine. The female was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance 1.4 grams. Her bond amount has been set at $25,000.00 on the possession, $997.00 on Sherman Police Department warrants.
