Ardmore Man Faces Child Rape Charges

3-6-06 - A man accused not only confessed to his crime, but tipped off authorities. 27-year old Acea Pickens went to authorities Friday and told them he had molested a young girl back in 2002. Officers say it’s a first for them.

After being arrested on Friday, Acea Pickens was allowed to bond out of jail Monday on a $25,000 bond.

It was a life changing experience that may not have been discovered by police if it wasn't for his own conscience. Friday morning, Pickens first went to the Department of Human Services, and then to the police, telling both that back in May of 2002 and November of 2003 he molested a girl younger than 16. He also admitted to lewd molestation with the same victim last July.

All three counts of first-degree rape are felonies. He could face life without parole. Pickens' attorney had no comment. He will be back in court on April 18.
