Injured Firefighter Fights to Stay Alive

3-11-06 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A Chickasha firefighter critically injured battling a blaze in Stephens County earlier this month is fighting to stay alive.

The mother of firefighter Destry Horton says her son's arms were amputated this week and that he may also lose a foot. Jerri Thomas says her son remains in critical condition at the Integris Baptist Medical Center.

The 32-year-old Horton suffered burns to about 50 percent of his body when he was trapped by a wildfire March First near Duncan.
