Scattered showers and storms could become strong to severe this afternoon into the evening. Primary threats are large hail and heavy rainfall causing flooding in poor drainage areas. Damaging winds are included as well and an isolated tornado possibility is very low but not eliminated.
3-12-06 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) About 150 residents of Carney are evacuated today as wind-fueled wildfires burn thousands of acres across Oklahoma.
There were no immediate reports of structure fires in the Lincoln County community, but officials say the blaze continues to burn this evening.
Firefighters at the state's incident command post in Shawnee responded to six wildfires, including a one-thousand-acre blaze near El Reno that threatened several structures and continued to burn tonight.
Two grass fires were reported near Cordell in Washita County, and others were reported near Pawhuska, Weatherford and Walters.
