An emergency disaster unit is a new addition to Grayson County’s Salvation Army. It’s one of only four in the state, and it's equipped with a stove, a grill, and even a refrigerator. And with so many natural disasters, they've already put it to good use helping our neighbors.
Emergencies don't have to hit home for this team to react. They just got back from an eight day tour. If they needed to, this new emergency disaster unit allows them to stay longer and feed lots of people.
This unit has just about everything you need for an extended stay on any disaster, but this is part of a pilot project. If successful, it will become a central part for a more modern day Salvation Army.
The $130,000 unit was given to Grayson County because of their outstanding disaster relief statewide.
