Parents Upset With Softball Conditions

3-29-06 - The parents of some Pottsboro softball players are displeased with the way the team is being treated and they say it is becoming an embarrassment.

The main reason the parents feel this way is because they believe that are not getting the assistance that the other programs at Pottsboro are getting. A lot of parents bring their own lawn chairs to games since the bleachers that are provided are not fit to sit on, but the bleachers located at the adjacent baseball field is just part of what has parents upset.

Also, the only restroom facilities for players and spectators are portable ones with no sink or anything to sanitize your hands. The parents claim it is a situation that no other program at Pottsboro or no other softball team in the district has to deal with.

Parents have been lobbying at school board meetings and presented a petition recently. Among the things they are asking for in the petition are restrooms, a grandstand, and a press box.

The school board did approved the construction of a restroom and concession stand that would sit in between the baseball and softball fields.
