SHERMAN, Tex. -- A domestic disturbance turned into a headache for one Sherman man when police say his wife hit him in the face with a frying pan.

Officers were dispatched just before nine o’clock Tuesday night to the 1400 block of East Cherry Street for a family violence call.

When police arrived, they found the man waiting for them on the porch. He told them he had been hit and shoved by his wife. He then spit blood on her and called the police.

The man was not seriously injured in the frying pan attack.

Beverly if you call 5 yrs quick, I know exactly how it is. I beleived those things, but I left before he could kill me or my children. It may be difficult, but there is still know reason a man or a woman should be hitting their spouse!!! How can anyone say this is ok??? The man in this case was abused, but since he is a man everyone wants to blame him for something that they don't know. Had he hit her everyone would be spitting nails that it happened, not saying,"she probably deserved it". Too much of a double standard.

to gville at 11:59; in response to your comment. for a woman in an abusive relationship its not so easy to just pack up and go. becuase it is a graduale thing. an abusive man beats a woman down emotionaly, makes her believe things like no one wants her, if she leaves he will come after her, she cant make it on her own. the list goes on. and even though the abused person man or woman did finally get enough nerve to leave, they still live with the damage for a very long time. so count your blessing, if you have ever been abused that you got out QUICK.

You have the right to an education-- please get it in a school instead of in the woods...YOU need to be taken to the shack out back and thrashed.

As for not taking up for myself, he only wishes. But I have been in law enforcement and I don't want to be on the other side of those bars. But since I got an EPO like i should have, if he comes back around he will meet my 38 and it will be justified. So don't think I don't defend myself, I just do it legally. And if your husband hasn't hit you it is because he is a good man, not because you threatened him. And hell the truth is these people are probably back together already.

Those of you who have automatically prejudged the man is this story as "getting what he deserved" based on the small bit of information provided just goes to prove the point that other's have made concerning men as being treated unfairly by our family court system. This is a prevailing attitude which runs strongly here in Grayson County. Have you noticed the signs posted by our District attorney's office. These signs make it clear that in the eyes of the Grayson County justice system domestic abuse crimes are only perpetrated by men upon women. People need to wake up. Do some research and you will find an average of every 38 seconds and act of domestic violence is commited by women aganinst others. And yes I will agree that the majority of acts are commited by men, however to assume that women only act against men who deserve it is just simply a vary narrow minded and sexist view.

Anonymous in G-Ville, I know one think if you hit a man up side the head with a frying pan that would be the last time he messed with you, I have been married long enough to know and told my husband that if he ever layed a hand on me that would be the last time and he never has and he knows better to, I am not going to call the cops I will take care of it myself and by the way my parents taught me to take up for myself not someone else doing it for me, and this will be my last comment on here there is no use in talking to someone that can't take care of theirsleves

Posted by: Wondering Location: Sherman on Jul 18, 2008 at 12:20 PM
I wonder why this story made the news and there are so many women out there getting beaten on a daily basis and that never makes the news. Or could you tell me why there were cops swarming my neighborhood last night with thier lights on looking for someone? That didnt make the news, I would also like to hear about why Travis St was shut down yesterday and the neighborhood smelled of gas, there were fire trucks and ambulances everywhere. Instead I have to hear about someones personal life that has no effect on me, you or our city. Come on KXII dont you have better things to bring to our attention than a fight that got out of hand??

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Jul 18, 2008 at 11:59 AM
To anon in sherman, it was the last time, I called the cops. Haven't had a problem since, do to the fact I left and got a divorce, duh. That is how you handle it if you don't want to be locked up. If we say it's ok to to hit a man then it would be ok to hit a woman. If you act like a man then be ready to suffer the affects. My parents tought me better, I feel bad for you that you didn't. If a woman stick around and lets the abuse continue it is on her. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Posted by: Sipsy Location: Whistle Stop on Jul 18, 2008 at 11:19 AM
It could have been self-defense. In that case, the pan did more than fry chicken that night.

Posted by: Scrambled Eggs Location: And Bacon on Jul 18, 2008 at 10:23 AM
Hey ladies, don't hit 'em. Just leave 'em for someone hotter. Spitting blood at her. Classy. *Sheeeeesh* But yeah, what's good for the goose is good for the gander...or in this case I guess it's the other way around. Methinks Ralph is trying to suggest she might have been barefoot and pregnant too. ;)

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jul 18, 2008 at 10:22 AM
to Anonymous G-Ville, you obviously no nothing that would have been the last time he pointed a gun to my head, are you too scared to take up for yourself, get a life and learn to defeated yourself. You don't know the whole story either she probably had enough of him and let him have it HE DESERVED WHAT HE GOT!!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jul 18, 2008 at 09:45 AM
Hey Ralph you probably don't even know how to cook, you are probably one of these guys that sits on his butt in front of a TV and thinks he gets what he wants, no woman deserves to be treated like a slave, get up off your butt and start doing stuff for your self, I don't blame the woman she should have hit him, but you men are all the same you can dish it out but you can't take it

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Jul 18, 2008 at 09:22 AM
To ANON IN SHERMAN, well I actually came out of a bad relationship where I was hit and had a gun pointed at me, so you know nothing. But if you condon a woman hitting a man you condon abuse ingeneral. If you think he will come back be prepared, but I read nowhere in this story where the man was beating the woman. You are jumping to conclusions. Some women are just as crazy and abusive without having been abused themselves. If he hit her it was mutual combat, but otherwise she had no right to hit him.

Posted by: Me Location: Here on Jul 18, 2008 at 09:01 AM
To Ralph @ 11:15pm: Yeah, I think the fact she had a frying pan in her hand is shocking. She should have used a baseball bat.

Posted by: Ralph Location: Denison on Jul 17, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Hey ladies, this should get you going: Is all the ruckus over the fact that she hit the guy with a frying pan, or is it shock over the fact that she actually had a frying pan in her hands?

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Denison on Jul 17, 2008 at 10:43 PM
You people are right. No one should ever be hit. I came from a large family where my dad beat my mother until I was about fifteen years old (they had been married some thirty odd years at the time) I came home to witness her backing my dad in a corner with a big wide belt with a buckle on it. He was begging her not to hit him again. Well needless to say when she got through with him he never hit her again. HE DESERVED EVER WHACK SHE GAVE HIM. AND if a man hits a woman he needs to be hit.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jul 17, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Location in Gainesville and mamma, you both obviously never have been beaten by a man, you just don't stand there and take it you fight back and calling the cops you right they take him to jail then he gets out and how do you know he will not back and this time kill you, you two need to wake up

Posted by: Anonomous Location: Texas on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:54 PM
so....obviously nobody is concerned that our taxpayer moneys was wasted on this crap.......and even worse.....it made the NEWS..........JEEZ!!!!!!!

Posted by: one lil Mama Location: Fannin on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:27 PM
Well, I agree with anon @11:31. Our system today is screwed up. NO ONE should be hit. I came from an abusive first marriage and am now married to a wonderful man, (who was hit in his first marriage). He was raised to not hit a woman no matter what. So she had a field day with him. It took me almost a year for him to stop flinching if I moved suddenly. And then for anon @7:44 this morning - It IS WHINE not wine. And it isn't whining when you are trying to get people to see the injustice in our system and correct it. And did he sound as if he DESIRED it? I think you meant deserved it. Let me repeat again NO ONE deserves to be hit. Man, Woman or child. Young or old. And our law enforcement should treat everyone equally.

It very interesting to redad all these comments, but I have to tell you...There is a double standard. While going through a recent divorce, I was granted a court order to get some of my propety from the house we lived in. She refused to allowme in, even after I showed her the papers and hearing the judge say it was ordered in open court. She finally said that if I went to the garage my stuff was in there. She opened up the garage door and then threw gasoline on me and came after me with a lighter. When the PD arrived, they threated to arrest me for burgulary and tresspassing even though I had a copy of the court order and showed it to them.If it was not for one of the officers knowing our (her) history, I would have been in jail. Women always say they want equality, but on if it is to their advantage. I agree that if HE would have hit HER, he would be staring straight at 10 - 15 years in prison!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jul 17, 2008 at 02:26 PM
Richie maybe he needed to get some sense knocked into him, and yea it goes both ways he probably did something to her

Posted by: JC Location: Denison on Jul 17, 2008 at 02:06 PM
AND if he defended himself he would instantly be in the wrong and charged with a crime, with no chance of successfully defending himself in court.

Posted by: mamma Location: fannin on Jul 17, 2008 at 01:41 PM
If a women wants to fight like a man she needs to be treated like one I hope she was arrested.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 17, 2008 at 01:39 PM
Bet he's glad they didn't release his name!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Jul 17, 2008 at 01:23 PM
You people are crazy! How could you applaud a woman for such nonsense? If she was being attacked she should have called the cops and pressed charges, then followed through with an EPO. Just because she is a woman gives her no right to beat on a man! And yes I am a woman and if I did that to my husband I would expect it in return, or at least jail time. No spouse, man or woman, deserves to be treated like that! You all sound like a bunch of dumb hillbillies to applaud such actions!

Dude should be arrested for letting a chick kick his butt.

Posted by: Richie Location: Sherman on Jul 17, 2008 at 12:33 PM
Talk about a double standard. If the guy whacked HER with the pan, he'd be in the klink. She hits HIM with a pan, and they "take a report". What a joke. Domestic Violence goes both ways.

Posted by: sue Location: sherman on Jul 17, 2008 at 12:32 PM
There are plenty of mean, hateful females out there. They hit, scream, bite, and throw things. It is not always what did he do? Sometimes it is self defense. There are some males that have been taught not to hit females not matter what.

I'M SORRY, BUT HERE IS MY OPINION. I AM A WOMAN WHO HAS HAD BEEN IN AN ABUSIVE MARRIAGE SO I KNOW HOW IT FILLS. BUT, JUST BECAUSE THIS GUY GOT HIT DOES NOT MEAN HE DID ANY THING WRONG TO THIS WOMAN. I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO GET HIT AROUND BUT IT HAPPENED. SO ANONYMOUS AT 11:31PM I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU.

Anonymous at 11:31 you poor thing NOT! YOu probably desired ever bit of it, your a man that says a lot right there, you idiots think you can get by with anything you do in this world and nothing happens, no nothing happens until a woman gets a hold of you then you go wine to the cops about it

Posted by: Lee Location: Taylor, Texas on Jul 17, 2008 at 07:39 AM
I don't blame her. There's a certain lawyer in Grayson County that I would have loved to hit with an iron skillet. Unfortunately, I would have had to kill him or he would have killed me for hitting him...... So I didn't.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 16, 2008 at 11:31 PM
obviously, you're not a man that has been assaulted. how would you like to have your front door broken down by your ex wife, hit in the head by a cell phone, bitten, and then a physical struggle in your own home? 911 was called, police responded and cuffed me and put me in the squad car? how can that happen to a homeowner when an ex-wife that was tresspassing, unlawfully entered my home, and assualted me? I even filed for a protective order and that was was denied! domestic violence happens both ways. don't stand up for a woman just because she is one. women can be just as bad as men and should be treated the same in the eyes of the law.

Posted by: Sirena Location: Somewhere in oklahoma on Jul 16, 2008 at 11:10 PM
I think maybe he deserved it. Proberlly for cheating for all you know he could have abused her! Way to go!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Sherman on Jul 16, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Good for her, its about time women stood up for theirselves, he probably need more than just a frying pan up the side of his face LOL! What happen the man couldn't take care of his self he had to call the cops to help him so sad
