DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University quarterback Justin Pitrucha will have to wait a little longer to appear in front of a judge.

The 21-year-old Pitrucha was arrested on April 22 on charges of possession of marijuana and intent to distribute. He was scheduled to appear in front of a judge Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing, but it has been pushed back.

Last week, SOSU head football coach Ray Richards told KXII Sports that Pitrucha would be allowed to reclaim a roster spot if he clears up his charges and satisfy requirements set forth by the team.

Pitrucha is scheduled to appear in court again on August 7 at 8:45 a.m.

Just to comment back to the person who says that 80% of college students do drugs. You are sooo wrong! I have a child in college who plays sports and he has not been in trouble or been involved in drugs. Dont know what kind of family you come from but most families dont approve of drugs and the majority of college students go to college for an education without drugs. You have serious issues. This guy should not be allowed to participate in any sports! There have been players kicked off of other college teams for less than what he has done. SOSU is obviously a college where I would not want any of my other children going. Its obviously a haven for allowing drug addicts to participate in sports. Shame on you.

Funny thing, He's still listed on the roster on the SE website. Guess they really never kicked him off in the first place. I bet he's in the first game of the season.

If looks made you guilty then this photo make this man guilty. Unfortunately for some of you, there is still due process. If he i found guilty, sen him packing and to jail. If he is found not guilty, do you still want to punish him?

Things never change, Earnest Hunter was a known criminal and Morris Sloan worked him in anyway. Earnest shot at teamates in the hall in his dorm and that was covered up and played down by Sloan. I am so glad he made it to the NFL.....NOT, he made it for about two years before even the NFL was tired of his criminal ways. Coaches get blinders on when it comes to talent and it is hard to blame them when they are supposed to win or they will not last long as well. Don't ask the president of SOSU or the AD, they will say what ever and then in the end they will still be about winning. Coach should remove him.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THE COACHES AT SOSU WOULD EVEN CONSIDER LETTING HIM PLAY AND STAY ON THE TEAM!!! LOOK AT WHAT EXAMPLE YOU WILL BE SETTING FOR ALL THE KIDS INCLUDING YOUR OWN!!! YOU SHOULD LET SOMEONE ELSE PLAY THAT IS STANDING ON THE SIDELINES,MAKING THEIR GRADES AND NOT BEING A POT HEAD!!! I UNDERSTAND GIVING SOMEONE A SECOND CHANCE BUT MAYBE AFTER A YEAR OF BEING OFF THE TEAM, MAKING HIS GRADES AND PASSING DRUG SCREENINGS, MAKE HIM PROVE HIMSELF!!!

Maybe KXII should interview the Athletic Director and the President and see how they feel about the shadow that's been cast on their department and their university!

Let's all get behind Justin and pray that he is found not guilty. This way he can focus on "winnin bawl games." And we all know that's the most important thing. If you have a college age daughter, you should encourage her to date him!

I agree with Get an Education. School does not exist for the purpose of having sports. It is nice for some kids to have, but the reason for being there is to get an education. I see the parents all going nuts fighting over whose baby is the best in sports. I have yet to see one make the pros. I have seen many become dropout, unemployed, losers. And, I don't know who the guy is who thinks 80% of college students do drugs is, but he was hanging with the wrong crowd. None of my friends in college did drugs. Oh, we knew some that did, but they didn't last long!

If "Ugly" was a crime, he'd already be serving time. Hey Coach, "let him go" so the DA's office can "LOCK HIM UP". Don't send a message to the younger generation that what he's done is OK. IT'S NOT. The treatment you are giving this young man makes a person wonder if you are supporting his bad habits. Mr. Coach, DO THE RIGHT THING". Release this kid from the team and give him an opportunity to realize that what he did is WRONG. Make his parents realize that he is not perfect and he's got to work on his image, which in turn reflects on the people of Bryan County. Let him show us that we have reason to be proud of our college students. Work with the system, not against it.

No I am the real Mork. Who are these wannabe's. Obviously they cannot come up with jokes as lame as mine. They cannot laugh as hard at their own jokes as I do. No one could hate them as much as the KXII community hates me. That is right. I am Mork. I am a loser.

I agree with "sports" that athletics seems to over ride everything in college and High School. It's very sad, these young athletes are being told by their parents and coaches during their Jr. High & High School years that Sports is a good reason to stay in school, and this is the philosophy of most college athletes. What about the ones that are not good enough to play in college? I guess they just don't have a reason to go to college since the notion of getting an education and a good job was never preached to them during their early years. Parents,Coaches,Public Schools, & Colleges need to get their priorities straight. Only a handful of athletes make the big time, the rest of them have to work to make a living. I would really like to know how keeping this young man on the team is really helping him. His grades kept him from playing last season, and he's been caught with drugs. The coaches need to let this young man make his own way, & stop babying him so he can play football!

Come on people. Its innocent until proven guilty. Funny though, I agree with all of you. Sports seem to over ride everything in college and school. Sad situation we've let things get into. Even though he's not been proven guilty, he shouldn't be able to take place in any extra activity's at college, until things are straightened up. I mean come on, what was he caught with.

It is hard to imagine that you would have 3 different story links on the your site regarding this punk. Hardermyet to understand the shool taking him back "if" he clears up his charges. Where there is smoke (pot smoke !!) There is fire. Common folks stop letting football run your life

As for the OU point guard, Jenna Plumley, it was on the radio this morning that Coach Sherri Coale is suspending her for the entire season. Plumley might be able to play again in a couple of years if she stays out of trouble. Way to GO Coach Coale. Plumley like stated before was caught stealing approximately $34 worth of stuff, NOT DEALING OR USING DRUGS. Plumley is getting a "Stricter punishment" than Pitcrucha? Come on now SOSU open your eyes.

I never liked the new team name "Savage Storm". Let's change it to "Smokey Savages" or "Savage Peace Pipe". Will that offend any groups out their? May offend the 4:20 club. Might want to just change his jersey number to 420 and be done with this issue.

I just can't understand these kids that have the world at their feet, screwing it up for dumb crap. Does he think he is above the law...probably and he will probably get a slap on the wrist proving he is right. No wonder our kids thumb their noses at the law. I would bet my last ten dollars he will get slapped on the wrist and go on to play until he gets caught again, and again and again.

I am ashamed of my alma mater, SOSU, for even CONSIDERING to let this young man back on the team. What kind of value(s) is today's society trying to teach the younger generations? Is it acceptable to be a drug addict in the spot light WHILE supposedly earning a credible college degree? SOSU can rest assured that I will NEVER "donate" any money to the alumni fund for this unthoughtful (aka STUPID) decision of offering a roster spot to an ungrateful young man.

Another student athlete committing a crime at OU. OU point guard Jenna Plumley Arrested By James S. Tyree Staff Writer NORMAN — Jenna Plumley, a junior point guard on the University of Oklahoma women's basketball team, was arrested Monday on suspicion of petty larceny. Plumley, 20, was arrested shortly before noon at a Norman Walmart, 601 12th Ave. NE., according to the Norman police incident log. Norman Officer Jennifer Newell said Plumley is accused of trying to take makeup and other items valued at about $34. Newell said a Walmart theft prevention officer made the actual arrest, and then a Norman officer was called to pick up the Walmart employee's paperwork for the municipal charge. Plumley was allowed to go after signing her ticket. An OU athletics department spokesman said coach Sherri Coale is aware of the situation, but the department is making no comment.

Even if "Mary Jane" Pitrucha did play the first couple of games, Tarleton and Midwestern would work him over like a rag doll! I say, let him play, then he can take the blame for the loses!

Look at him. He's all that AND a bag of potato chips, beef jerky, 2 twinkies and an oatmeal creme pie. The munchies are a b****.

Just like everything else in life. The rich, famous, or athletic get away with everything and they dont deserve the second chance and dont appreciate it anyway

Posted by: college student Location: TX on Jul 17, 2008 at 04:03 PM
Hes just like 80% of every other college person, but he just happened to get caught.

Posted by: Anonomous Location: Durant on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:58 PM
Well of COURSE it was pushed back...... is there a game he needs to play in and help win, or something before he goes to court?

Posted by: Waste Location: Durant on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:41 PM
I was kinda on board with the idea of letting him have a second chance, but he doesn't look very remorseful in this photo. Oh, maybe he was just high!

Posted by: curious on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:22 PM
So, if he doesn't have a court date until Aug. 7, is SOSU allowing him to attend pre-season workouts anyway?

hmmmm interesting....court date is aug. 7th and "training camp" starts aug. 6th....do you think they are trying to push it back so it will be forgotten about..since a lot of SOSU alumi are bashing the coach for possibly letting this punk back on the team?? come on coach richards and baxter i though you two were better people than this..

Posted by: Jamie Location: Sherman on Jul 17, 2008 at 01:44 PM
What a punk he looks like. I would imagine he is very sorry.. Sorry He got caught.
