Flash Flood Watches are posted through Monday morning for all of Texoma. The most concentrated rainfall is expected Saturday night into Sunday. Please be alert to floodwaters, washed out roads and rising creeks.
3-31-06 - Last nights severe weather caused several problems through the area. The bridge that runs over the creek in Sherman has been slowly deteriorating, but last night’s rain weakened even more to the point that a heavy construction vehicle finally caused it to buckle.
A vehicle was passing over the bridge and then got stuck when the road collapsed, leaving a giant hole that completely takes up one lane. No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved, but the street was shutdown on both sides while public works employees took a look at the damage.
Public works employees were out on the scene analyzing the damage and trying to determine what fixes are possible and also what can get the road that sees a good amount of traffic back open as soon as possible.
Eventually though they will have to go in and do the permanent repairs, which could take some time.
