1 killed in Carter County Crash

LONE GROVE, Okla. (AP) - A Lone Grove man is dead after crashing the all-terrain vehicle he was driving on a county road in Carter County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 22-year-old old Christopher Edelen was killed in the accident just before 2:00 Wednesday morning.

Troopers say Edelen lost control of the ATV in a curve and it rolled on its top. Investigators say Edelen wasn't wearing a helmet and died of head and internal injuries.

Antlers woman dies in crash

HUGO, Okla. (AP) - An Antlers woman has been killed in a two-car collision on a county road in Choctaw County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 43-year-old Rebecca Smith died in the accident north of Hugo shortly before 8 Tuesday night.

Troopers say Smith was northbound when she lost control of her pickup truck in a curve and crashed into an oncoming pickup.

Investigators say Smith wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown nearly 50 feet from her truck as it rolled.

The driver of the second truck is hospitalized in fair condition.

HOW DARE you make such thoughtless, rude, cold remarks about a young man who has just lost his life! I have lost a young member in my family not once, but TWICE! BOTH died late at night and NEITHER were drinking! So STOP with the accusations. My heart goes out to the Edelen family. Bless you all.

It is terrible, but it makes you wonder , had a helmet been used, would the outcome have been different? Also - Yes,saying hurtful things is not nice - so "Anonymous", you might want to be a little nicer with your response, instead of saying "Shut up"

Why at 2 in the morning? Lots of people hunt and do alot of things in the middle of the night, or get ready for these things early in the mornings. Not everyone up this late is drinking always.

Quit jumping to conclusions about alcohol. You weren't there so shut up. I get so sick of people getting on KXII and writing comments that hurt other people. If you don't have anything nice to say........

2 o'clock in the morning? Why would someone be riding an ATV at that time? That's crazy. Alcohol must of been involved.

22 years old, so sad. Breaks my heart to read this. Please people be careful on those ATV's!
