4-5-06 - The possibility of new jobs was the talk at Sherman’s newest industry Wednesday as community and company leaders at Tyson met together.
First was the negotiating and then the anticipation. Now the Tyson Plant in Sherman is up and running. And though they have only been open for a little over a month, the CEO was in Sherman Wednesday to talk about expansion.
After John Tyson toured the building he said he is pleased with the progress the plant has made and was apart of the announcement that on April 24th they will begin second shift operations. Those operations will add an additional 120 jobs to the plant, totaling around 1,000 jobs for Tyson in Sherman.
The plan is to have over 1,600 jobs at the plant by next year. Tyson has been conducting job training for their new employees at the Grayson County College.
