GAINESVILLE, Tex. -- Gainesville police arrested two men after north Texas authorities intercepted a package containing twenty pounds of marijuana.

Gainesville police were contacted Tuesday by the Fort Worth postal inspector who alerted them of a package containing drugs that was supposed to arrive in Gainesville on Wednesday. Authorities say the inspector saw the package was tagged as Express Mail, but had no person of contact. That tipped him off that the package could be suspicious.

A K-9 officer determined it was full of drugs, and Gainesville police arrested 32-year-old Pablo Palacios, Jr. and 19-year-old Brady Ratliff on Wednesday as they attempted to deliver those drugs.

Authorities say the two men were shocked police showed up with the package, and officers are glad they got to it first.

"They had actually left the residence and gotten into a vehicle when our officers pulled up, and then they saw the patrol car and they knew right then and when they spoke to our officers that they were caught," Gainesville Police Chief Steven Fleming said.

Both suspects have since bonded out but north Texas authorities say they will be on the look out for any suspicious packages in the area.

you people are retarded if you think "corina" came on here to confess to you people how big a snitch she is and where she works and that she got off scott free. she got away with it, but she comes on here to reveal she is the informant? facepalm. this is obviously someone else posing as her to get her attacked by a bunch of redneck vigilantes. you all obviously need to smoke a big fat blunt and calm on down

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 31, 2008 at 02:38 PM
i hope they learn there lesson.. they both need to straighten up and stay out of trouble..

It is funny how people act like marijuana use is such a big deal yet are so casual about alcohol. Alcohol is a much more potentially dangerous drug than marijuana. In the future a case like this will be seen as absurd. Can you imagine a person of legal age being arrested and going to jail for buying beer? Radley Balko from Fox News wanted to ask Obama this question: — In your autobiography, you admit to using marijuana and cocaine in high school and college. Yet you largely support the federal drug war — a change from several years ago when you said you'd be open to decriminalizing marijuana. Would Barack Obama be where he is today if he had been arrested in college for using drugs? Doesn't the fact that you and our current president (who has all but admitted to prior drug use) have risen to such high stature suggest that the worst thing about illicit drugs is not the drugs themselves, but what the government will do to you if you're caught?

jack herer: if you believe so freely of this then i think that you should do something to help the 19 year old who is sitting in jail still waiting to be bonded out.

MARIJUANA IS NOT A DRUG! If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction, were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the Greenhouse Effect and stop deforestation; then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world's paper and textiles; meet all of the world's transportation, industrial and home energy needs, while simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time...and that substance is the same one that has done it before...CANNABIS HEMP! DEATHS PER YEAR: TOBACCO>>400,000; ALCOHOL>>150,000; ASPIRIN>>1,000 ; CAFFEINE>>5,000 ; "LEGAL" DRUG OVERDOSES>>25,000 ;ILLEGAL DRUG OVERDOSES>>5,200 ; MARIJUANA>>0 Educate yourself at www.jackherer.com

i heard that the 32 year old made bail and he is supposed to bail the 19 year old out, but i guess he hasnt done that yet because he is still sitting in jail.. do you think he will bail him out?

ok but domestic abuse and getting caught with 20 pounds of marijuana is two totally different things.. has he always been in trouble growing up or has it been just in this year alone

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 02:50 PM
I just know..I mean come on he got in trouble with 20 pounds of marijuana obviously he isn't gonna change..i hear that he also got arrested for domestic abuse this year and that wasn't that long ago..if he wanted to change he would have changed after he got arrested for that..he had to be doing the drugs to get in trouble..it would be a miracle if he does change..

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 01:33 PM
how well do you know the 19 year old. to say that you know for a fact that he isnt gonna change...

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Maybe when he goes to jail over this he will think that it isn't worth going to jail over..he needs to stop and think that there is more to life than pot..they should both get wut they deserve..it doesn't matter if he was just moving it he will still aware that he was receiving it..he knew that he was in the wrong..he needs to grow up and start taking responsabiltiy for himself..he isn't ever gonna change..all he cares about is himself..i know that for a fact!..

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 12:46 PM
look i dont care if people know who i am i know the 19 year does pot he told me the 32 year old told me that he gave him some so whoever thinks that he doesnt do it needs to ask him the truth, he aint a bad person but he does lie alot to everyone and you have to sit down and actually talk to him alone to get the truth and i think that he is stupid for taking the whole rap for it all he is 19 and has alot to live for he shouldnt have all this on his record when he was moving it, it didnt even belong to him and he aint going to get no slap on the wrist he will spend time in jail over it i have done alot of ressearch on texas laws in the last week......

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 29, 2008 at 09:37 AM
I guess you don't know him very well because he got caught with the drugs..if he is so mannered then why did he get arrested for domestic abuse..i pretty sure it was for hitting a girl..if you call that well mannered then i guess you aren't well mannered..

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 28, 2008 at 08:14 PM
i bet its you gainsville girls writing half of this actually prolly the 3 who are snitches.. The 19 year old didnt do any drugs in months almost a couple of years and i know because pretty sure i know him better than anyone who has wrote comments because oviously you all dont know him very well... No he is not a bad kid he is very mannered and a very hard worker... So everyone who thinks you know him and want to jugde him yall need to go speak you S**t somewhere else...

what will happen to the 19 year old if he has been in trouble in the past for different other thing..

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Jul 28, 2008 at 01:04 PM
He won't go away forever, No one does for drugs, I know to many of them. Some of them should go away, but it won't happen.

Posted by: anonymous on Jul 27, 2008 at 04:42 PM
i heard that the 32 year old has 2 trikes against him slready for the same crime, and if he gets in anymore trouble then he will go to prison for the rest of his life. because of a law called the Three Strikes Law. i dont belive that he should go to prison for ever, i know people who are constantly in and out of prison for drugs and alcohol and they have been in more than three times, i think that if your going to apply the three strikes law then it needs to be applied to everyone.. not just who they want to apply it too....

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 27, 2008 at 02:01 AM
You guys are so harsh! They should not go to jail, this is marijuana we are talking about, it is much less harmful than alcohol and it is only because of outdated laws that they are in trouble. Now, I don't know these individuals, and they may be into other real crimes, like someone else mentioned domestic abuse etc.

Oh wow. now I have heard it all. "Made him do it"..he is 19 years old. Ask around, some of his buds will tell ya what he has been into, cause they do it to. Probably was getting it for them.

The 19 year old has been in trouble before, domestic abuse, nude pics of his underage girlfriend on his phone, drop-out, I know some of his family and its a real shame.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 06:24 PM
He doesn't matter if he did munipulated him..he knew it was wrong..they both should go to prison..ya im sure he was scared of him..he would say anything to get his way out of trouble..he was arrested in the past 6 months for domestic abuse..

the 32 year old has been in prison 2 times for the same thing the 19 year old hasnt done anything in the last 6 months but drink till he moved in with the 32 year old then he got him selling drugs for him it was the 32 year old that munipulated him into selling the stuff for him, the 32 year old could get the 19 year old to do anyting he wanted to cuz he was scared of him.....

curious- which one has been in trouble in the past, the 19 or the 32 year old. is it for the same crime or something different. i think they both deserve to do the time, i dont know them but they sound like they are both trouble makers..

Posted by: Curious Location: Southern Oklahoma on Jul 25, 2008 at 01:55 PM
Anonymous...take my word for it. This isn't the first trouble he has been in and won't be the last. Patterns repeat theirselves.

i know both guys very well the young guy would not have done it if he was not pushed to do it he does not use drugs and was pressured into it they have not bonded out and it is not unusual for cops to find that much drugs around here there are crackheads and potheads every where you look in gainesville, they were not trying to deliver the drugs they were on there way back to work with there foreman and another worker, it was his girlfriend that dropped the bomb on his delivery she talked to the police right before she went to his house and as soon as they left on there way back to work they kicked the door in, she was in the house and walked scott free but she will get whats coming to her in time...

Posted by: Who cares Location: Everywhere on Jul 25, 2008 at 08:23 AM
FYI...they have yet to bond out. They are still in jail.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 07:24 AM
Kinda stupid to mail your pot. I am surprised they didn't catch a Federal charge too.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2008 at 10:10 PM
how do you know he will never learn his lesson?? you have no room to talk or judge people because im sure you have been in the wrong before!!

Posted by: curious Location: southern oklahoma on Jul 24, 2008 at 05:49 PM
I can't believe the younger guy was able to bond out on a drug bust of this nature. he's a troublemaker and will never learn his lesson. He is only headed to bigger things.
