4-806 - High winds caused wildfires to break out on the Carter/Love County line on Highway 77 south of Ardmore Friday.
A large grassfire may have been intentionally set about two miles south of the speedway. 12 fire departments were on scene of these fires, including the Ardmore Fire Department.
People around the Cisco and Carter County Road areas were evacuated to the speedway. Winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour were making the fires harder to control. Another fire broke out north of Ratliff City and burned one structure.
The intersection of Highway 77 and Cisco Road was shut down due to the fires as well as parts of Highway 76 north going into Garvin County.
