4-9-06 –Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosted an international soccer tournament Saturday.
At the first-ever Panda cup, elite girls soccer teams from across the globe played European football on SOSU’s football field.
The highlight of the day was the final match-up between the University of Tulsa and China’s National Girls team. After several girls from Texas teams traveled to China to play last year, the idea for the panda cup was born.
For many of the Chinese players, this trip was their first to America; they were welcomed to Durant by both students and city dignitaries.
China won their game Sunday and the Durant Soccer Club, who helped organize the event, hopes the culture exchange will continue for years to come.
