MARIETTA, OK -- A small fortune in hard drugs was taken off the streets in Love County Wednesday. Marietta is a small town with a small town police department, but I-35 often brings big city problems right through the heart of the quiet town.

Between two separate drug busts in just two days, authorities confiscated more than six pounds of marijuana, enough to make five thousand marijuana cigarettes. A kilo of cocaine, three loaded handguns, and crack were also found during Wednesday night’s routine traffic stop. Police say the cocaine alone has a street value of at least $100,000.

Two men, 25 year old Joseph Washington of Shawnee, Oklahoma and 22 year old Elliott Oakley from the Houston, Texas area were taken into custody without incident.

On Tuesday, 56 year old Oklahoma City man Ulysses Johnson was arrested after being discovered with over $5,000 of what police are calling “drug money,” as well as a small amount of cannabis. Johnson was also arrested during a routine traffic stop.

“With I-35 going through the city, I believe that this is probably routine for this to happen on the freeway,” said Chief Linda Johnson with the Marietta Police Department.

Tuesday's suspect, Ulysses Johnson, has since bonded out. However, Joseph Washington and Elliott Oakley, who were allegedly planning to make more than $100,000 off the cocaine alone, remain in custody at the Love County Jail. Bond has been set at $250,000 for each man.

Excellent job to the Police Department. I often hear complaints about them and I believe they are doing a great job and would like to say way to go. Keep up the good work and keep making Marietta a safe place to live and work.

Marijuana cigarettes. Well written, Daddy-O. I dig your jive talk. As often as they pull over people with no just cause, sooner or later they are bound to actually catch someone doing something wrong. 2 for 2000. But hey...a whole article on Channel 12. Yall ever noticed an episode of News on KXII and an episode of COPS are very similar?

MARIJUANA IS NOT A "HARD DRUG". and that $5000 was the guy's money. just because he has some cash on him does not mean it was drug money. i smoke ganja and i got a nice bonus from my job a couple of months ago. it was $4800, and i went out and bought a couple of ounces of herb. but the money was mine legitimately. the last clause of the 5th amendment of the US constitution reads as follows: "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
