4-15-06 – Bryan County deputies have some new tools to help fight crime. The sheriffs office bought seven new laptops and six digital cameras for patrol cars. A nearly $15,000 grant paid for the new communication equipment.
Deputies can now use the laptops to write and file reports; they say the new equipment will make solving crimes easier and faster. The laptops allow deputies to check criminal backgrounds and warrants within minutes and enter stolen property reports.
Deputies also say the new equipment will help cut down on mileage and fuel costs because deputies will not have to drive reports back to their stations.
