BONHAM, Tex. -- The 11-year-old girl attacked by dogs in Bonham is said to be okay Thursday, but the 44-year-old woman attacked remains in a Dallas hospital, and the owner of the dogs is now facing felony charges.

Police say it happened around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday near downtown Bonham when two dogs escaped from a car and attacked 44-year-old Judy Pless on her bicycle in the 500 block of North Main.

When witnesses scared the dogs away, they then attacked an 11-year-old girl just around the corner on 5th Street who was also getting onto a bicycle.

Police say the dogs are believed to be pit bulls. There were four of them in the car, two of which jumped out and attacked.

Pless was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with multiple tears and puncture wounds. She remains hospitalized Thursday.

The 11-year-old girl was flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas where she was later released.

The dogs' owner, John Hardy Taylor, was initially arrested on misdemeanor charges related to the attack. Taylor has since been charged with four counts of attack by a dog, a third-degree felony. Police are also charging Taylor with misdemeanors of allowing the dogs to run loose and having no rabies vaccinations.

The dogs have been taken into custody and were placed in isolation. The judgment of this case is set to take place Friday.

to "WOW" My lab which I had put down last year, attacked over 15 other dogs that I know of and even bit a small child that wandered into our yard. My new dog, an American Pit Bull is the most gentle breed of dog I have ever owned and I have owned, Rott's, Lab's, German Shephard's, you name it. He plays with my kids which range from 3 to 14 and has NEVER been aggressive towards another dog. Blame the owners for the way their dogs act, NOT THE DOGS! Don't tell me that labs dont scare grown men, because mine was raised gentle and scared even me! There are good and bad in every breed and I will vouch my pit bull as everyone calls them is the best dog I have ever owned!

First of all my compliments to all of the people who posted their anti pitbull/ rottweiler comments. You people need education on the breeds first, before you pass judgement. I am not a crackhead or inbred, we are a respectable well to do family, with 5 grown children, 31-13 years of age. We also have 4 grandchildren ages 2-6 years of age. I have assisted with pitbull rescue for 15 years now, and our rottweiler was a personal choice. I am proud to say our dogs have bitten or hurt anyone. All of you need to go to pitbulltalk.com, this is a forum of responsible owners. Increase your knowledge and awareness, before you condemn. BAN THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!!!

all people who own pits are not inbred's or crackhead's you are very uneducated impulsive behavior get a life lmao

To Wow over in Reality not all pit bull owners are INBRED HICKS OR CRACKHEADS. All im saying is i love all of my dogs and they wont hurt nobody. They play with all the kids in my area. Their only DANGEREOUS if you dont raise them right. My gossh people. Leave the pit bull alone. AND for everybody alse's info all dogs can bit and hurt someone or kill them dont matter what kind it is

I live next door to an idiot with several pitbulls - the owner has signs posted everywhere warning neighbors and others. The dogs have "visited" my property uninvited several times - and they have always left with a POLICE ESCORT. I'm not one to call the police for no reason but I WILL NOT have those animals on my property. THEY ARE DANGEREOUS!

Posted by: Dookey Location: Shermboro on Aug 20, 2008 at 08:19 AM
Just for the record; I do not own a dog or cat.

Posted by: To Wow over in Reality on Aug 20, 2008 at 01:25 AM
I agree with your post, however it will not do much good. The people that love pits are either inbred hicks or crackheads in either case their not real bright! I say kill the pitts and neuter the owners! The should offer spaying and neutering free to pitt owners so that they will quit breeding! of course the population in north texas and southern oklahome will be cut in half within a generation! What a bonus!

Bull's post might be the dumbest, most factually incorrect rant I've ever heard. The bottom line is if your pit bull comes onto my property, or in any way makes me feel uncomfortable, I'm going to shoot it or call the cops, whichever comes first. Labs don't make grown men tense up. This killing breed does, and if I had kids and saw one near my children, I wouldn't stop until that dog was out of my neighborhood and away from potentially hurting defenseless children. BTW- the media reports more pit attacks than any other breed BECAUSE PITS ATTACK PEOPLE MORE THAN ANY OTHER BREED, YOU MORONS!!!!! And when a chihuaha attacks, how often does someone die? FREAKING IDIOT. MIKE VICK "LOVED" PITBULLS TOO.

Posted by: Bull Location: Fittstown on Aug 19, 2008 at 10:47 AM
I dontknow what all the commotion is about. You hardly ever hear of pit bull dogs biting people and giving them permanent injury. The are such sweet dogs they wont hurt a fly. It is the chijuajuas that are the most vicious dogs and you never hear about them tearing somebody apart in the news media. I thnk the news media is prejudiced against pit bull dogs. To the mean pit bull dogs and their owners I say an eye for an eye. If your dog bites a human then lets get Dookey to turn his dogs on you and let them tear you apart. Or is everybody in agreement they dont wnat other peoples pit bulls sicken on them. How sweet it is.

Posted by: Dookey Location: Shermboro on Aug 19, 2008 at 07:35 AM
Pitbulls are good to hunt hogs with. They will bay a big ol sow or boar and never back down. That's all I have to say about that...

I live out in the country, and someone droped a real nice young pit on my road. I have his head on a fence post. Im looking for 3 more to complete the decorations! ROFL got ya didn't I :-) Actually I own several dogs and cats and horses..... well ok it feels like I live at a zoo, anyway I love animals. Im also a member of peta, u know People Eating Tasty Animals! I just have no use for the "mean" breeds. I think they should require a permit to own. It's a fact some breeds are and have been bread to be killers or used for protection. In my book they are useless unless properly trained/used. A nice pistol or rifle is much eaiser to control for the general public. I know that excludes crackheads as most of them are felons. In that case they deserve no protection.

I should have also added that rotts and pits together are responsible for almost 70% of dog bite related fatalities. Sounds like they are sweet all right...sweet death.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Reva50 on Aug 18, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Okay, 10 pit bull owner, I think your name says it all. And you're calling US crazy? lol

Posted by: Jill B Location: Sherman on Aug 18, 2008 at 12:07 PM
10 pit owner, sounds like you have some serious issues. No one is trying "run the counrty" here, we are only trying to keep citizens safe. It is a fact that pit bulls are involved in about third of dog bite related fatalities...how is that possible when they are sooooo sweet? The facts are crystal clear, lets not muddle it with emotion. Also, FYI-- I am not sure about Denison, but most civilized cities have a certain number of animals that are allowed per household. I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you're over the limit, and that is another serious problem that plagues this area.

Posted by: 10 pit bull owner Location: Denison on Aug 18, 2008 at 11:32 AM
I own 10 pit bulls and two other dogs and a cat and all of my animals get along fine. So all of these people talking trash about the pit bull population is crazy. I live in the city limits and i own 10 of these very sweet dogs. I dont care what other people say about them. I enjoy these dogs more then anything in the world. Its all how you treat them, and give them there respect that they deserve. If you are going through town tie down your dogs. It is a free country people it is not illegally to drive thourh a town with your dogs. the nerve of some people trying to run this country. I still love all of my animals.

Posted by: My elevator goes to the TOP Location: TeXa$ on Aug 17, 2008 at 08:57 PM
Quit Whining, if a "precious pit" or a "sweet, sweet" rottie had latched on to your leg (as the poodle did - left a scratch, did it?), you wouldn't have your leg anymore, or half your face probably -maybe not even your life. That seems to be the point that you are obviously missing. Must have gone right over your mullet. Yes, they are very protective and aggressive breeds of dog, not "meant for town dogs", or to be around children, the elderly, or people and creatures that thrive on oxygen of any kind.

Posted by: Fed Up on Aug 17, 2008 at 06:03 PM
Quit Whining, your too stupid for me to even reply to. Talk about the gene pool dying out with you. I hope your death is slow and painful and at the mercy of 6 Precious Pits you think so highly of... and a Poodle pee's on your face as you lay bleeding.

Posted by: Dawn on Aug 16, 2008 at 04:28 PM
All pits need to die. I'd do it for free if the law would allow me too. Only ignorant people own those dogs. Yes IGNORANT.

Why was this guy driving around Bonham with dogs? He should be in training camp with the Houston Texans. What is he, #33? Just more of the riffraff that comes to town with their dogs. I doubt you could sue this guy and get anything.

My father had a kennel of hunting dogs for 75 years; I helped him every single day for 20 of those years. I know dogs. Being a good dog owner and raising it right certainly helps. But there are some breeds that are bred to fight - pit bulls are one of them. There is a reason everyone is afraid of them. Those "sweet, sweet" pit bulls some of you are referring to will rip your throat out in a second if you do something it doesn't like, even if you have owned them 10 years. Those of you who are posting the misinformation about these being "good" dogs need to do your research. The whole breed needs to be eradicated.

I can tell you that i would probably be in jail as well if this happened to my child because I would kill the sorry@$# dog and the owner will wish they were never born!!!! These dogs should be outlawed and it should be a felony to breed anymore of them. They are nothing but vicious animals. How many people have to die and attacked before something is done. OUTLAW PITBULLS

Posted by: Former Amer. Pit Owner Location: Sherman on Aug 15, 2008 at 10:39 PM
I know it's open season on pit bull owners and former owners and by posting here I'm stepping into the line of fire, however, I too would like to post my "opinion." I had two American pit bull dogs (years apart) and loved them both dearly. They were so sweet and wonderful and make me truly hope that "all dogs DO go to heaven." My husband and I still have people remark about missing our "Tiger" who wormed her way into the hearts of everyone who ever met her. She might have been a pit bull but she thought she was poodle. She would sit in anyone's lap who would let her and she weighed a good 100 lbs! I'm crying just remembering and missing that precious hunk of fur. Did we raise her differently? I can only tell you that she only ever knew love and that is all that she gave in return. So go ahead and attack me for my opinion just remember that opinions are like azzholes... everyone has one and most of them stink.

Posted by: think about it Location: here in TX on Aug 15, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I agree, your dog = your responsibility. BUT, there is a HUGE difference between being attacked by a poodle versus a pit bull. The pit bull breed has been completely ruined. Their size, strength, and general character make them a serious threat to people and other animals. Pit bulls should be banned within the city limits. This case is a prime example of the breeds erratic behavior.

I dont think it is funny at all. I hate biting dogs. I say lethal injection for all dogs that bites and their owners. If that happens I still wont find it funny but I bet the dog bites go down and we wont have to suffer dog bites as much and the good sweet pit bulldogs are safe and their owners. This should be the best solution for this crap.

You should all be ashamed that knew about this nuttttt and his dogs. This was awaiting to happen. I am so sorry for the 2 that have gotten hurt and I pray for your recovery.

You people that are so quick to say what you would do if you was convicting this man. He is mentel. These dogs should have been taken away and put in homes that they could have had a life. Pits are abused and a mental person does not need them.Probably in his poor way of raising these dogs they was raised to defend him.But if you Mother are Dad has mentel problems would you convict them and turn your backs on them.A person is very lucky if God chooses to let us have good minds, strong legs and can make our decisions. This man has an old camper, lives fron check to check and probably doesn't even have the money to feed these poor dogs. God made these dogs for a purpose and we don't judge a man that has no mind to raise them.

For those of you that think it is how they are raised, what about the woman who had a pit it's whole life and it turned on her? This was an older woman who loved a took care of her dog, and out of no where it riped off half of her face. This just happened a few years ago. They are bad dogs, and like Bill if one comes around my family or children I will shoot it too. I guess I have a problem? It's called protecting your own!

I think registering all pit bull dogs and then if the dog bites a person the dog and the owners gets lethally injected. That way the good pit bull dogs and their owners have nothing to worry about and we can all be rid of this scourge. I agree with Mr. Bogan Brown. Lets get rid of all the bad pit bull dogs and their owners for good. I think the good pit bull owmers should be in agreement with this and the people that hates pit bull dogs and their bully owners should agree with this final solution too. Lets start the movement to register all pit bull dogs and if they bite a person then the dog and owner gets lethal injection. yaaaaaa

They love my children and the neighbors children.I have seen Labs and Boxers that were mean but you dont ever hear them brought up its always Pit Bulls and Rotweiler's. Im sick and tired of hearing all these people say kill the breeds when its the owners not the dogs. If you come over to my house and knock on the door my Rotts will welcome you like family but if you climb throgh my window or threaten my kids watch out.

TX mom hit it on the head. Get off the pit kick anything can attack. You should be held responsible for your animal whether it be a poodle or a pit or something else. I've had one of both a pit and a rott and had them right until the time they were to old to carry on and we had to put them to sleep. Maybe we should just go ahead and put parents down when they let their hoodlum kids run all over town vandalising property too.

Again, you morons have to attack the breed. If pit bulls are so dangerous and vicious, then WHY are they allowed in the American Kennel Club and shown in dog shows? Yeah, you idiots, those are pits! American Staffordshire Terriers ARE PIT BULLS! And yes, it is too in the way they are raised. Like the others have said, ANY dog can be dangerous and vicious if the WRONG OWNER gets hold of them! If you chain a dog up and beat it and feed it gun powder, and train it to be aggressive, no matter what breed, it will be vicious! And to Bill who posted that he had just shot two of them because they're killers, if you ever shot one of MY dogs, YOU WOULD BE BEHIND BARS SO FAST IT WOULD MAKE YOUR HEAD SWIM!

What does it matter. The thing is they kill everyday. on avg one person is killed by pit's a week. They are just killers And every time somone get's killed some people from up north get on this web page and blog how great the dog is and that we are dome people. And everytime I tell them to come on down and say it to our face. But no the just run that pie hole. So in TEXAS we will shoot everyone we see and you can't do anything about it.

It is about time that somebody took this type of crime seriously. I don't care what the breed, if somebody fails to control his/her animal and that animal injures another person they should be held responsible. I have neighbors that continually allow pit bulls and rotweillers to run at large through a neighborhood full of children. People cannot go for a walk around the block with out worrying about large/dangerous breeds of dogs running loose. Even worse, the Grayson County Animal Control is a joke. They will only pick up a dog if it runs directly to them and jumps into the truck, or if it has already bitten someone. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to stay in our houses or carry big sticks and pepper spray just to take out the trash! I don't care what kind of dog you have if you keep the dang thing in your own yard/house!

To momma in fannin. I am neither a doper or trashy, and I have owned a few pits. Raised them from babies. The best guard dogs ever, very protective. A sweet sweet ROT killed my sweet sweet terrior, and all she was doing was trying to pee in HER yard. Does that mean we get rid of rots to? People abuse the breeding of pits. Inbred and trained to attack dogs will do bad things, no matter the breed. If pits can be outlawed, then I say lets outlaw stupidity in people to. Stupid people are just as dangerous if not more so than pits! You people need to get off the pit kick, its getting old. My neighbors poodle attacked me once, I was getting my newspaper. Might have been a small dog, but I still have the scar from my knee to my ankle of what it did to me. Ban poodles, it could have been my throat, instead of my leg!!! Get real people!

This is par for the course. The owners never get attacked but the innocent people minding their own business do. OUTLAW THESE DOGS AND HOLD THE OWNERS RESPONSIBLE!

Posted by: Joe Citizen Location: Bonham on Aug 14, 2008 at 09:25 PM
Pitbulls and Rotweiler's are 2 dogs that are not covered by home owner's insurance. There is a reason for that. Sure some of them are not vicious, however, by nature they can turn vicious. Yes, any dog can. But these two breads do it more often than any other. Darren, if you want a pitbull to guard your property, then fine. But they can't do that very well if they are riding around town in your car or truck like they were with this guy...now can they?

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 09:05 PM
yall dumb uneducated(Uneducated. Like people who don't know how to use punctuation.) people do not know your facts pitbulls are not dangerous (Stupid statement) and it does depend on how they are raised (Not all the time.) every dog can be mean if you make it that way even a small dogg can be vicious (But the small ones won't kill you.) stupid people (Like you?)need to be the ones who become extinct (We won't miss you.)and if pitbull's become banned you know how many more murders are going to happen (None. Except maybe to some dopeheads) and crime agaisnt the people who banned them (The people that banned them didn't have them "for protection" in the first place. Dumb A$$ Yankee.)

I was attacked by a pit when I was a little kid. A man held me in the air and was kicking the dog to get it off of me.It took of huge hunk out of my leg. Nothing was done to the owners or the dog I was just riding down the street on my bike. My dad called the owners and they did nothing about it so he shot the dog himself. Those dogs are just mean.

Hey Brady Bunch Momma. Why don't you include the rest of the information from the "study" that you quote? Pit bulls led all breeds for fatal attacks between 1979 and 1998, with at least one pit bull involved in 66 mauling deaths, the study said. Rottweilers were blamed for 37 -- most of those in the 1990s -- followed by German shepherds with 17 and huskies with 15. Researchers cautioned the breakdown does not necessarily indicate which dogs provide the highest risk of fatal attacks because incomplete registration of dogs and mixed breeds make it hard to determine how many of each type of dog Americans own. When the kind, gentle pit bull you people are raising turns on you or one of your children, just tell them how gentle the dog is. That will make them feel better.

Several things contribute to a dog being vicious. 1-Some breeds are bred to be more aggressive. Some bloodlines are unstable because of inbreeding. 2-Some because of training/lack thereof. 3-Some are vicious because of abuse. 4-Some are downright evil. The biting power makes pits more dangerous. We lived next to a pit for a couple of yrs. He was one big baby. But i would not have gone up to him without his owner present. A few yrs later, another pit was being "dogsat" by another neighbor. She got out. I went next door to let her know. The dog would not let me close to the house & had me blocked from going back to mine. I'm not afraid of dogs (have 2 mutts) but I feared for my life that day. I knew by her stance/demeanor that I would be attacked if I made the wrong move. The lady FINALLY heard the commotion & came out. Totally different dog, she licked my feet. I told the lady of the liability she faced because lots of kids walk our street & I would call the dogcatcher. Dog disappeared.

Darren that statement you made was dump! You obvisiouly have not looked into how these dogs are and it does not matter how the are raised it is in their bloodline, you are the one that is stupid and need to know the facts before you post something

Bring those Damn dogs to here, Ill take care of them, They will be floating down the river. That bread of dog will kill anything or anyone. I love dogs, and all animals but those type of breed should be done away with. I have been attacked before by a pitbull and the only way to stop him was my dad and his revolver.

First our prayers are with the young girl and lady and their families who were injured. It is a tragedy.I own a pit bull that is a family raised dog.I have trained my dog as such and that is all that he knows.I have been bitten by three dogs in my life none of which were Pits.People should be held responsible for injuring others if it's with a dog, gun, vehicle,or violence.I stand behind the laws to protect people.Statements that say only drug users and lesser people own these dogs is false.I am a family man who is very involved in serving the comunity and childrens activities and my church. That doesn't fit the pit owner profile some people have.Like I always tell people who ask about the breed, chickens are produced for food yet people for years have taught them to fight and be agressive as you can do with any animal.Owners of any breed of dog should be responsible.Once again my prayers are with the victims and their families. There is a difference in Pit owners.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 06:16 PM
OK, now this little girl and woman may have to take shots because this idiot did not give these dogs their rabie shot. Pitlover the older this dog gets she will get agressive so please don't tell me you can train her all you want to but that does not mean that she will one day turn on you and bite you

Posted by: David on Aug 14, 2008 at 06:02 PM
You Rarely hear of a German Shepard,Lab most other breeds attack at random like this. Pits should be outlawed. This guy was trash, I know I saw him. He and the dogs should be put down. If his dogs would have one biten of my family members I would save the taxpayers some money and do it my self!

HOPE HE DOESN'T GET AWAY WITH IT AND FOR AS THE DOGS PUT THEM ALL TO DEATH.

Posted by: Brady Bunch Momma Location: Ravenna on Aug 14, 2008 at 05:09 PM
OK I don't see how anyone could clump all Pits into one category, that is ridicules. That is like a bad policeman, does that make them all bad?, or a bad lawyer or doctor. Does that mean we don't need any of them? Actually, Google Deadliest dogs and you will get Rottweiler has passed the Pit. Do all Rotts need to be put down? Then let us look at how many attacks actually took place. I am siting a CNN report that says over a eight year period 1991-1997 there were 66 mauling deaths. 37 from Rots 21 from Pits 17from German Shepards and 15 from Huskies. That is 66 total deaths for a 8 year period. Not that each and every life isn't important but let's put this into prospective. These dogs owners were or should have been responsible for them. Kind of like when we get behind the wheel of a car. In 1998 there were 37,107 fatalities in vehicles. Should we do away with CARS? This is not an animal issue. Animals are not the issue, it is the owner/operator.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 04:30 PM
Past pit owner thank you for that comment, they are dangerous animals, and please do not tell me if you raise them right or its the owners fault you people need to wake up, you people that have these dogs and one ever bits you are tries to kill your loved ones please do not call 911 because all along you said they were good dogs

Posted by: pitlover Location: your town on Aug 14, 2008 at 04:30 PM
I am not a drug user, dealer or criminal. I have never shown my dog to attack, however she will obey because I took time to train her. She is a very loving dog. If I had it my way they would require licensing for ownership. I also want licensing for people to reproduce. Some idiot breeds just need to die out.

We want to personally thank each of you for your prayers and support. Our daughter Haiden, the 11 year old, is at home now resting and healing. As tramatic as this event has been it has still shown us that there are Heros amongst us. If it wasn't for the selfless courage of a woman who confronted and attacked the two pit bull dogs with a small broom the ending of our story could have been much, much different. We also want to thank the Bonham Police Department, Fire Department and everyone else involved resolving this terrible incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy Pless and her family.

Posted by: anon Location: denison on Aug 14, 2008 at 04:22 PM
EVERY breed of dog has the potential to bite. Big dogs need more love, not vicious training. Perhaps the people who own them should be exterminated and the dogs sent to loving homes!

Posted by: past pit owner Location: sherman on Aug 14, 2008 at 04:16 PM
let me just start by saying..pits are dangerous! i had a momma pit and her daughter for 6 years. lived together in the back yard the whole time together. one day for no reason the daughter turned on the mother and got her by the neck and killed her! it is NOT how they are raised. my dogs were raised very well....it's the bloodline. people need to stop saying that it is how they are raised because they are so wrong. same with any animal. so get your facts straight before you say it how they are raised

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 04:11 PM
Why would anyone have 4 dogs of any type in a car in downtown? They should be charged.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Bonham on Aug 14, 2008 at 03:58 PM
I don't think all breeds of pits need to be put down but yes, I do think in this situation the dogs that attacked do need to be put down. The owner needs to be charged out the @ss for not having the dogs restrained in the back of the vehicle. Justice does need to happen! I personally like pits but you have to blame the owners on how aggressive they can be or become!

Posted by: beverly on Aug 14, 2008 at 03:10 PM
the people i know that have these dogs are not dopers or low lifes. and the dogs are very good dogs, well trained, well behaved. its how they are raised. just like people, some are raised with manners and good behavior and others have no respect what so ever. dont blame the whole breed, blame the people who raise them to be agreesive. DOGS ARE MANS BEST FRIEND they want to make the owner happy.

Posted by: Chuck Location: Calera on Aug 14, 2008 at 02:49 PM
**to the owners of PitBulls. Please lock them up tight and carry insurece/attorney or don't have them at all. YOU CANNOT PREDICT THEIR BEHAVIOR! They have Powerful jaws and are all muscle. Their bites are at least 4-fold stronger than the average dog and damage.

Posted by: Furious about Pits Location: Healdton on Aug 14, 2008 at 02:41 PM
I think the law should not only find the owner of those pits liable, but should kill the dogs. Pits are one of the most aggressive animals in existence. In my opinion, pitbulls should be banded and should be eliminated as a race of dogs.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 02:16 PM
Please don't tell me its not the dogs fault WHATEVER!!! These dogs have it in their blood and the older they get the worse they are, if I ever see one on my property it will be a dead dog

Posted by: Me Location: Sherman on Aug 14, 2008 at 01:38 PM
Those kinds of dogs are totally useless!!

Posted by: Sick and Tired Location: Bonham on Aug 14, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Upon reading this story I realized I knew who the owner of these dogs was. About a year and a half ago, I myself reported a dog in a truck at Wal-Mart that just about dove through the window, that was partially down, at two young girls getting in their car next to the truck. I called the sheriff's department and reported the animal. I have done my research and have found that this is the same guy! So what I don't understand is first, why was nothing done then to prevent what happen today, and second, why isn't everything ruled on a majority vote. Because if it were, the dogs would not be here. I personally see more votes for banning the breed than not!

Posted by: beverly on Aug 14, 2008 at 12:26 PM
i do not have pits, but i have been around them they are not ALL bad. it wasnt long ago when the sweet sweet rotts had a bad rep. it is the way a dog is raised.

Posted by: Anne on Aug 14, 2008 at 12:15 PM
This is so unfortunate for the two innocent victims. I can't imagine how scared that little girl was. There are many of these animals tied to stakes throughout Bonham. I have even witnessed a police officer's family bring their pit bull to a parade downtown where this attack occurred. How do we get pit bulls out of our neighborhoods? I am tired of the same excuses from the owners. They claim "they are loving pets and wouldn't hurt a fly". "We don't know why they attacked". You can not reverse evolution.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Aug 14, 2008 at 12:12 PM
These dogs are just like wild animals, it doesn't matter where they are raised, they will attack. And the comment about the dopers having them is so true!!! All the crack heads around G-ville have pit bulls. These owners should have to have insurance on these dogs or they should all be put down!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 14, 2008 at 11:51 AM
I hate it that anyone would be bit by a dog, but I have noticed that when it is a pitbull everybody starts saying that only drug dealers and trashy people have them, not so, I know people that have them and they are very loving dogs, its sad that some people train these dogs to be mean and the whole breed has to pay for it, listen to these comments these folks are making there has bad as the dogs there talking about, kill the dogs, they should kill all of them, shoot all of them, the owner should get lethal injection, these people worry me worse than these dogs, I hope these people are gonna be alright that were bit, but dont blame the dogs ,blame the owner, its like if a person was shot with a gun, there not gonna outlaw guns, the person that did the shooting is gonna be in trouble, think about it ??

Posted by: Howdy Location: TX on Aug 14, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Seems simple to me..... 1st -- Isolate the dogs as needed then put them down for their actions. 2nd -- Charge the Owner, make him pay for the damages his dogs did and let him spend sometime in Jail. This would send the right message.

Posted by: Mr. Zone Location: Here on Aug 14, 2008 at 11:31 AM
Who's the owner? Why is his name being with held? I agree with other posts, he should have to pay for his dogs actions and enjoy some "state time" for his lack of control of his own animals. The dogs I'm sure are already dead or close too it by now. Lets also remember those hurt and keep them in our prayers.

Posted by: Glenn Location: Dallas on Aug 14, 2008 at 11:30 AM
Don't exterminate the dogs. Yes these dogs have the potential to do lots of damage. The real problem is the POS people that get these dogs and then are not responsible for them. Fact is most Pit owners are most of the time far from pillars of normal society in the first place. Make it a FEDERAL law that this breed be a licensed to own animal like lions, tigers and such. When anyone is caught with this breed of dog without the proper license then exterminate the owner.

Posted by: mamma on Aug 14, 2008 at 11:08 AM
DOPERS and TRASH thats all that own these DOGS because they are INBREED SICK PEOPLE

Here we go again with these dogs. When will people learn about them?

Posted by: Bogan Brown Location: Oklahoma City on Aug 14, 2008 at 10:39 AM
If me or my family or friends gets bit I will probably go to jail for killling the dog(s) and beating the owners senseless (man, woman, or child). Wothless dogs have more rights than people a dog can eat a person and if a man beats their owners senseless they go to jail. There needs to be open season on biting dog owners since their dogs can bite people and the charges against them are very pathetically minimal. If the people that gets bitten by no good dogs starts beating the crap out of the dog owners then the dog owners may start keeping the public safe from their dogs. Now the laws against it is so minimal the dog owners probably just go home and laugh about their dogs eating people. and they let their dogs crap on their neighbors lawns and dont clean it up and think nothing of it. Kill all dogs. This is nonsense and way beyond the time to put an end to this.

These dogs don't deserve to live in Grayson County PERIOD!!! Or anymore for that matter, if that was my daughter I would have killed the dog and I would be suing the owner for everything he/she had

Animals should be restrained. I hope the owner of the animals has to pay for all cost related to this.

Posted by: bob Location: denison on Aug 14, 2008 at 09:36 AM
Shoot all them pit bulls just anouther good exampel of dogs gone bad and they did the right thing by charging the owner the pit bulls are just bad dogs and they need to kill them all before they kill more people.

Posted by: Bogan Brown Location: Oklahoma City on Aug 14, 2008 at 09:08 AM
How many people have to get eaten by pit bull dogs before something is done? I say register every pit bull dog, kill all pit bull dogs that are not registered and throw the owner in prison for 10 years, and every registered pit bull dog that bites a person the dog and its registered owner gets lethal injection and that will put a stop to reading about these vicious dogs eating people. and the nice sweet pit bull dogs and their owners have nothing to worry about since their loving pet will never bite anyone. Are we all in agreement?
