4-28-06 - A man committed suicide moments after a car chase on US 70 ended Thursday night. An Oklahoma Highway Patrolman was making a routine traffic stop when the driver of a stolen Chevy sedan sped away.
The chase ended a short distance later, west of Madill. But as the trooper approached the car, the man inside, 61-year-old Donald Stoltz, shot himself once in the head.
No other shots were fired. The OSBI is assisting in the investigation. Troopers say he was wanted in the Oklahoma City area for several armed robberies, a carjacking and home invasion. The car he was driving was stolen in the Logan County area.
