4-28-06 - Control of a popular Denison recreation spot could soon be changing hands.
For 50 years Texas Parks and Wildlife has leased Eisenhower State Park from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Since the lease completed in 2003 the two have been negotiating a new license to keep the park open, but have not been able to reach an agreement.
Texas Parks and Wildlife have issued a September 30 deadline to reach a new arrangement or they will relinquish control, leaving it up to the Army to find a new operator or consider closure. Texas officials say the negotiations are far from over and that they will continue to work on the lease over the next few months.
