FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. -- Children from low income families in Fannin County received free school supplies Tuesday thanks to the Fannin County Children's Center. People were lined outside the facility waiting to get everything from pens to notebook paper.

Children's center staff says the service is needed more than ever. Last year they helped about 470 people, and they helped 300 in a three-hour period Tuesday.

One great-grandmother told us that without the help her grand-kids would go empty handed.

"I think this service is wonderful. They did this last year, and it helps Fannin County out tremendously. I think it's a good deed they're doing," great-grandmother Sharon Smith said.

If you live in Fannin County and need assistance, stop by the Children's Center either Thursday or Friday between 9 a.m. and noon or between 2 and 5 p.m. You will need social security cards for each child and proof of financial need.

I think It's a really good thing that there doing but the problamis too many people are getting it when they really don't need it. you see people you know who has money and you still see them up there getting the school supply's. and when there is someone who really does need it can't get cause ther is no more. or they get the little stuff thats left. I think they really should check there income to find out if there really low income.

I wish where I lived I could get school supplies for my children. But I can't cause then everyone would really know about me and its so much fun being a mystery. My kids have to suffer cause I would be found out and then there would be no privacy. Dang the news media! Thank you and have a good day! Mr. BigFoot.
