A 52-year-old Ardmore man dies when his motorcycle collides with a pickup on a Carter County highway.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says that Ronnie Vanderburg was riding his motorcycle northbound on U.S. Highway 177 about four miles north of Dickson yesterday afternoon.
The motorcycle was hit by a southbound pickup driven by 19-year-old Troy Alan Bigger of Madill. The OHP says Bigger was assaulting a passenger in his pickup and that caused him to enter the northbound lane, causing the collision.
The impact ejected Vanderburg from the motorcycle and he landed 65 feet from the point of impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bigger and one of his passengers were treated at an Ardmore hospital and released. A second passenger in Bigger's pickup was admitted to the hospital in stable condition with leg injuries.
