Trucks Collide, Passenger Killed Near Davis

5-9-06 - A Norman man was killed and another critically injured when their cargo truck collided with a dump truck west of Davis, OK, around 10am Tuesday morning. Troopers say Blake D. Friesen, 19, was eastbound on state highway 7 when he moved into the outside lane and rear-ended a 1987 Freightliner dump truck driven by Donald E. Stehr, 68, of Sulphur.

His passenger, Richard D. Friesen was thrown 16 feet from the vehicle. He died at the scene. The driver suffered critical injuries and was flown to Oklahoma City.

The dump truck driver was taken to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital and admitted in good condition with trunk internal and arm injuries.

Troopers say no one was wearing seatbelts. They blame the crash on an unsafe lane change.
