ARDMORE, Okla. -- Investigators may be close to a break in the case of a bold electronics heist back in mid-August. Robin Beal reports.
Investigators say they have strong reason to believe they know of at least one person who had direct ties to the August 18 burglary at the Circuit City Warehouse on Cooper Drive, and they could be closing in on more suspects.
Thieves targeted a facility which serves as a distribution center for the Circuit City Company, a prominent nationwide electronics retailer.
Police say the suspects were able to get in by cutting the fence and driving a stolen tractor rig through the opening, hooking up to a trailer filled with expensive televisions, and then driving off.
That rig and some of the merchandise was later recovered in the Dallas area. Police say the suspect they are now on to also has ties to Dallas.
"We were contacted by the Dallas Police Department, and they had picked up an individual for an aggravated robbery warrant that they had. At that point in time they executed a search warrant at his residence and they found several electronic devices, six brand new TVs that were still in the boxes," Cpl. John Randolph of the Ardmore Police Department said.
Those televisions were positively identified as property stolen from the Ardmore warehouse.
The identity of the suspect has not been released because the investigation is ongoing.
