05-19-06 - A father and son were killed Friday morning after a rear-end collision on Highway 199 between Ardmore and Dickson.
The accident happened just before 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 199 and Dogwood Road. Police say a pickup carrying three passengers rear-ended a dump truck, shutting down the highway.
27-year old Kristopher McDougall and his 5-year old son Adam McDougall both died on scene.
20-month old Conner McDougall was in the pickup and was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore and then flown to Children's in Dallas with critical head and internal injuries.
The driver of the dump truck, 59-year old Jerry Phillips was not injured.
Police believe the driver of the pickup simply did not see the truck turning north and slammed right into the back. The red truck was traveling somewhere between 55 and 65 mph when it rear-ended the dump truck.
Traffic was shut down for about an hour, but is back up and running.
Investigators are trying to piece the wreck together and figure out exactly what happened.
