05-24-06 - A new drug testing policy will go into effect at Ada Schools next year. The school board approved the new policy in March.
The high school has always tested its athletes for drugs, but the new policy is built to include all activities sanctioned by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association. All students involved in the activities will have to pass a test at the beginning of the school year and are subject to random testing throughout the season. 7th and 8th grade athletes at Ada will be subject to random testing as well.
School administrators say the new policy is not a reaction to a problem; they just want to ensure that students involved in school activities are safe.
