A combination of very strong winds, falling temperatures and frozen precipitation will make Wednesday and Wednesday night dangerous for motorists. Freezing rain and sleet will change to snow before ending late Wednesday or early Thursday. Wind chills of 5 to 10 degrees...with air temperatures in the low 20s...can be expected. Roads will be icy Thursday morning but should melt during the day as skies clear and temperatures rise above freezing.
5-27-06 – A 12-year-old from Sherman had to be flown to the hospital after he was struck by an SUV around 6:30 p.m. The boy was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the street near the intersection of Travis and Lamberth in Sherman.
According to police at the scene, the boy had just bought food and was on his way back to his apartment complex on foot when he was struck.
He sustained abdominal and head injuries and was taken to Children’s Medical Center in the Dallas area.
No citations were issued.
