DENISON, Tex -- After a family's Denison home goes up in flames Monday night, the owners say they are thankful to just be alive.

Denison and Sherman Fire Departments responded to the call in the 1000 block of Thatcher Street just before 7 o'clock Monday night. Fire officials say that two rooms had been completely gutted by fire and smoke, but the fire was contained to that area.

The owner of the house believes it was caused by an electrical problem.

"My boyfriend walked to the hall closet door, and all he saw was red flames, and he screamed for me and Harmony to get out of the house," said Amber Ahhaitty.

Ahhaitty, her boyfriend, and young daughter all got out of the house unharmed.

The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
