ADA, OK -- A series of 911 calls to Pontotoc County dispatchers had officers thinking they had a child abduction on their hands Friday night. It ended with the suspects admitting it was a prank.

Pontotoc County Authorities say witnesses reported a child was forced into the trunk of a Ford Mustang near the Ada Wal-Mart on Friday. That Mustang was seen leaving town at a high rate of speed, as officers from several agencies scrambled to stop the vehicle.

One Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper slid off the road during the ordeal. Pontotoc County Undersheriff Joe Glover says the trooper wasn't seriously hurt, but the cruiser is believed to be a total loss.

Other agencies were able to stop the Mustang, and found a 16-year-old girl in the trunk. Two 18-year-olds were also in the vehicle. They were ticketed by officers for making a false report after all three admitted to officers the abduction was a joke.

Glover says the case will be forwarded to the Pontotoc County District Attorney to decide if other charges will be filed.

I have known the 18 yr old girl for years. Her cousin, 16 playing around by getting into the trunk. The lady that saw this was told by all 3 that nothing was going on. Even by the cousin. But she followed them out of town so that the police would be able to stop the car. When the kids saw the police lights.. they pulled over. Of course the police should check this out. Did the woman ever call back to the police that the kids had told her that everything was alright. I'd like to hear that 911 call. Yes an officer's car was wrecked. Because he almost hit another police car, so he put his in the ditch. But dealing with goverment agencies, common sense is never an option! Had to be the kids fault I don't blame the woman for the call...but after being told and seeing that everyone was alright. What was she thinking! Everyone wants to hang these kids. Don't want to even consider that maybe the whole thing got out of control by All involved. Shame all we want is a good story. Hell with facts!

Any and all of you who are running down the Trooper's driving ability should shut your ignorant mouths and try, just try, to put yourself in his shoes for just a second! This man was trying to do a job that each and every one of us depends on him to do. Imagine you're the officer that gets the call that someone's little girl has just been forced into a trunk and you're the closest officer to the location. Now, imagine that you're a parent and the description of the victim matches your little girl! Now that your pulse rate and breathing have doubled, your adrenaline dumped, and sweat is pouring from every pore of your body, try to operate a vehicle at high speed and rescue that little girl that could very well be your own! Think you could perform any better when it counts most? I seriously doubt it! So until you've put on the gun and badge and lived it, shut the hell up! Your stupid, closed-minded comments are the last thing any of us needs to hear.

to T, maybe stupid people have stupid kids and have stupid behavior

Posted by: Reva50 Location: Ardmore on Oct 15, 2008 at 08:03 AM
If you read the other article on this site about the charges, you will see that two people have been charged. You will also see that these two are 19 and 21 years old. I am very glad they were charged; I feel the rest of society needs to be protected from them. Now let's get the third one charged.

Oh you people need to grow up the car can be fixed and it was just a joke!!! The teens wanted to have fun and they probably regret it now... GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!

TO T FROM OKLA. WHAT A STUPID COMMENT YOU POSTED ON HERE,, THATS WHATS WRONG WITH THE SOCIETY IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU NOT WANTING TO SEE KIDS IN TROUBLE FOR WHAT THEY DO WRONG. TOO SOFT HEARTED TO SEE ANY PUNISHMENT COS IT MIGHT HURT. IF THOSE WERE MY KIDS I WOULD TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING I GAVE TO EM INCLUDING FUTURE JUST FOR BEING STUPID AND GAMBLEING WITH PEOPLES LIVES.. OH,BY THE WAY ... YOU FAILED TO MENTION THAT THOSE KIDS ARE YOURS COS THEY MUST BE. STUPID PARENT=STUPID KID

Posted by: NOT FUNNY Location: SHERMAN on Oct 14, 2008 at 06:48 PM
not in the least a "get out of jail free card" the state should seize the car they were driving to pull off this stupid "donkey" prank and make it state property for use in drug bust or prank buster... now that would be a well deserved pay back after jail time was served and cruiser cost reimbursed from the pranksters as well

Posted by: Paula Location: Denison on Oct 14, 2008 at 09:17 AM
OMG these kids don't just need community service, jail time or cited they need to spend at least 6 months or more with people that have had their children abducted to see just how FUNNY this is. This wasn't a practical joke this was just plain CRUEL- they no better- kids are taught when in preschool what to do when some stranger tries to approach them. I say stick it to them and next time God forbid they will think before they decide to pull a funny!!!!!!! Is anyone laughing now?

Posted by: Reva50 Location: Ardmore on Oct 14, 2008 at 07:24 AM
If I see anyone in the trunk of a car and am told it's a kidnapping, you better believe I'm going to call the police. Just because one of the kids comes back later and says they were only joking, how am I to know what the true story is? I would not take that chance with someone's life - I would let the police handle it. The reporting lady did exactly what she should have. These are not good kids just being kids; what they did was very dangerous with no regard for anyone but themselves having a good time. Extremely selfish and self-serving. Someone better get a handle on them or they're going to be doing a lot worse. And another thing, I can hardly believe that some of you are actually belittling the policeman who wrecked his car. He thought he was trying to save someone's life, and he risked his own life trying to do so.

Posted by: Impressed Location: Durant on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:26 PM
It is nice to see so many people behind the law enforcement in this case, regardless of the whole story, parts of the story or the Troopers driving record. What ever happened, a $15000 at least car was totally destroyed, other citizens lives put in jeopardy and all over a little misunderstanding. A lesson should be learned by several here.

Posted by: bill Location: madill on Oct 13, 2008 at 10:43 PM
that's funny

Posted by: my thoughts Location: healdton on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:21 PM
So, we don't know the real story. If the woman reporting this to the police had chosen not to after the kids said it was a joke, then heard the young girl had been found raped & murdered, she would have really felt good, wouldn't she? She did the right thing reporting this and these "good kids" need a strict lesson in responsibility.

Posted by: me Location: next door on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:01 PM
This "joke" is sort of like walking into a bank on April 1st and yelling "This is a stick up...April Fool's". Even though it's a "joke"- police WILL be called, someone WILL be arrested for making a threat- joke or not. OMG- PARENTS quit sticking up for your gooddy-two-shoes kids who need to be disciplined! Quit trying to blame this on the lady whol didn't call 911 back- SHE didn't play this joke- she called in something suspicious- which was the RIGHT thing to do! Now PARENTS_ DO THE RIGHT THING- ALLOW your children to be punished and LEARN a lesson instead of you continuing to bail them out- and the TAXPAYERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CAR- YOU SHOULD!

Posted by: : Anonymous Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 08:23 PM
I can just see it now....... I deal with kids everyday. They can stand there with the sweetest look on their face and tell you a baldface lie if even when you saw them with your own eyes doing something. And Mama & Daddy and close friends will call you a lier for getting on to their little darlings because they want to look past the things they. Wake up my friend this was not a funny joke.

Posted by: K Location: Sherman on Oct 13, 2008 at 05:59 PM
OK, so how many people found this "JOKE" funny? I bet the OHP that wrecked his car didnt find it funny, or any of the other people involved except for the "kids" that were playing this "joke". Make the kids pay for that OHP car instead of your tax payers. The tax payers already paid for it. Let the little pranksters pay for it and learn a lesson on the value of their actions.

Posted by: KT Location: Grayson Cty on Oct 13, 2008 at 05:51 PM
The way I see it is, had the kids or teens would have been in their seatbelts and riding like they should then NONE of this would have happened. If somebody had told me that they were being "kidnapped" I would have taken it seriously regaurdless of what I was told later by the same people. You never know these days. The lady did the right thing to try to protect the teenager that was "kidnapped" in this case.

Posted by: qualls on Oct 13, 2008 at 05:39 PM
If this is not what happened, then what did happen and why was the kid in the trunk and why was it going at a high rate of speed out of town, something was going on, these kids need a real job

Posted by: Frank Location: Grayson on Oct 13, 2008 at 05:06 PM
Leroy, in the real world when you shove a "loud mouthed" woman, or girl in the trunk, well that by law is kidnapping. When people think cars are toys, get out doing 'fun' things in them bad things happen. Too bad these kids choose to act their age, but if confronted they don't want to be called kids.Punish them.

Re: The OHP that can't drive a car and keep it on the road. They will move him into the drivers license exam department. That is what they seem to do when one of the 'Cowboys" messes up. Put him there so he can be a real jerk to the young drivers. Really gives them a role model to look up to and respect.

Posted by: Aunt B Location: Everywhre on Oct 13, 2008 at 02:32 PM
OK T if you are syaing that it wasn't ok for the teenagers to this but everything is being blown out of portion then technicially you are saying its ok. I don't know about you but since the officer did total his car I think the teenagers and their families should have to pay for that instead of the tax payers.

Posted by: Oklaredneck Location: Ardmore on Oct 13, 2008 at 02:27 PM
They should get a least the same or greater then the "underwear" thief got here in Ardmore. Kids need to know they live in the Real World and not in a make belive world.

Posted by: T Location: OK on Oct 13, 2008 at 01:23 PM
But the officer was not seriously hurt, not hurt at all. Let's not go taking about "IF"'s here, OK? I'm not saying what they did was OK! Never did I say that. I'm just saying this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion because some trooper needs to go back to driving school. Like I said before, this is his second car to total THIS MONTH! And no one was forced into the trunk, the 16 year old climbed thru the opening in the backseat and got in the truck, opened the truck and poked his/her head out. Some lady saw and called the cops. That is what happened. Yes, that is stupid behavior, and hasn't almost every teenager done some stupid behavior in his or her life?

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Oct 13, 2008 at 01:11 PM
So your so adement that they are kids, but I bet your the same people that want to lower the drinking age. I wouldn't want to be on the road with drunk KIDS! Make up your minds is 18 a kid or not?

Posted by: Tex Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 01:07 PM
I think O has stated the facts here. The lady who called the police (IT WAS NOT THE TEENAGERS) was told it was a prank, the girl in the trunk got out and told her it was a joke....the witness chose to follow the car and to pursue this more....Now we have 3 good kids in trouble and lies being told.

Posted by: Tex Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 01:02 PM
I think O in OK explained enough. What's funny is evidently the police report pulling the teenager out of the trunk when in reality she was the one driving the car and no one was in the trunk. The person who called 911 followed the kids, the kids pulled over and told her that it was a mistake, a joke. The lady didn't bother to call 911 back....had she done that then the OHP probably wouldn't have wrecked his car. These teens are good kids, weren't drinking, just having fun. They've definitely have learned their lesson and I hope their whole side of the story comes out.

Posted by: Me Location: Sherman on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:52 PM
Ok Tex and T if you know so much why don't you tell us all what we don't know here that would make what they did ok.....I seriously doubt you can!!

Posted by: Question Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Hey T, Tex, and anonymous, if you think that the whole truth was not reported and you seem to be in the know...why don't you tell us what really happened???

Posted by: Tom Location: Grayson on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:29 PM
To those of you here that think it was just a stupid prank and we should just droip it what would you have to say if the officer would have been seriously hurt. Just because they were kids does not mean they should be let go with such light punishment. Tey need to be delt with in a way they relize what they did was wrong. Some community time and be forced to pay for the car that was damaged. If an adult had done this he would have been arrested, what statement ar we making by giving them just a slap on the wrist.

Posted by: O Location: OK on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:26 PM
This "story" is not how it happened. The truth is what people need to hear. They did not destroy the public property!! The officer is the one who wrecked his car, these kids did not report a false kiddnapping. And the lady who reported it was told by the kids that it they were fine and that it was a misunderstanding. But she did not bother to call the police back to tell them so. The kids were not fleeing from the sence at all. This has really gotten way out of hand. I'm sure most of us have done some stupid things as teenagers, and we've learned from those mistakes. I could see it if these were bad kids, who were always into trouble, but I know that is not the case here. And don't go name called these kids, unless you know them. They are not "punks", they made a mistake doing something they had no idea would cause this kind of outcome. They have definalty learned a lesson.

Posted by: Leroy Location: Out There> on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Who said the kids called the cops, anyway? They were probably just playing around and some nosey do-gooder thought they would call the police. Since when is it a crime to shove a loud mouth girl/woman in a trunk? And that trooper, he probably just don't drive that good either.

Posted by: M Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:10 PM
I agree with T in OK. This whole story would not have been "news worthy" if the OHP hadn't had a wreck. The kids involved did apologize to the trooper but that doesn't seem to be enough. The whole story is not being told here. Of course, we know that the media just goes to one side and hasn't given the other side an opportunity to talk.

Posted by: Frank Location: Grayson on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:49 AM
How big a joke would this have been if one of the"kids" had been killed, or hurt?, or the Officer? How much more of the 'story' do you need to hear? I don't feel the tax payers should foot the bill for these kid's entertainment. Both the kids, and their parents should pay fully for the public property they destroyed. What can we expect from these punks when they are"adults"?

Posted by: T Location: OK on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:47 AM
You people making all these comments have no idea to what really went on. Whoever the media got their info from was wrong on what really happened. So before you start critizing these kids, and yes, they ARE KIDS, you need to get your facts straight. This matter wouldn't be so blown out of porportion if the patrolman hadn't wrecked his car. That seems to be the major headline of this story. Funny how the media forgot to mention this is the second car he has totaled this month? Maybe he needs his driving evalutated?

Posted by: Bill Location: Ardmore on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:44 AM
These kids do not need to be locked up where they be exposed to and probably become real criminals. Yes what they did is wrong, but most of us has pulled a stupid prank when we were teenagers. Give the lots of community service and make the earn the money and pay for the car and apoligize to the officer in the wreck and all those who responded to this call, but lets don't forget the stupid things we did when we were teenagers that we didn't go to jail or get a criminal record for doing.

Posted by: Jess on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:36 AM
Since when is kidnapping a "joke"? These kids need to seriously have their heads examined. They are old enough to know better, and I don't think the parents should have to pay anything. You take all three of the kids licenses away and make it so they can't get them until they are 21 years old. Then you make them pay for EVERY CENT OF THE VEHICLE AND OTHER COSTS.

Posted by: Tex Location: Texas on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:24 AM
What was reported here is definitely not the whole truth. Let's get the story straight before we start castrating and hanging these kids.

Posted by: anonymous Location: antlers on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:11 AM
These "children" are responsible for their actions. What if you or your family had been involved in an abduction or accident at the same time, the police would not have the man power to devote the needed time because they were chasing irresponsible teenagers. They should be held accountiable for their actions, pay for the cruiser and any other damage, plus detention time and fines. What were they thinking!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: durant on Oct 13, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Everyone has done something stupid in thier lifetime. Would you want to go to jail for the stupid things you did when you were a teenager? They do need some punishment but not as exaggerated as some of you people are stating. The whole truth was not protrayed in this story. Get the facts then leave a comment.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:41 AM
Why do you people keep refering to them as kids? yo can go to jail at 17 now, and 18 is an adult!! And to think people want to lower the drinking ages for idiots like this?!? They should go to jail, plan and simple, and the 16 yr. old should do some time in juvie.

Posted by: Concerned Location: McKinney on Oct 13, 2008 at 08:57 AM
I think these children should have to pay for damages since this was a prank. These children need to learn their lesson.

Posted by: Denise Location: Denison on Oct 13, 2008 at 08:57 AM
They should be held accountable for the cost of the damage to the cruiser that the trooper was driving and responding to what he thought was a "real" child abduction. When are we going to start holding people, even teenagers, accountable for their irresponsible actions. You can't tell me that they didn't realize the consequences from the beginning -- they were just hoping that they wouldn't get caught. One top of that WHAT IF there had been a real emergency while they were pursuing these teenagers that were "just playing a joke".

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 13, 2008 at 08:30 AM
Somebody needs some jail time. See how funny that is.

Posted by: J Location: Bells on Oct 13, 2008 at 08:20 AM
What! This is not a joke. Children get kid napped all the time. What where they thinking. Let the punishment be something more than a ticket. This is not teaching our teens right from wrong.

Posted by: ok Location: oklahoma on Oct 13, 2008 at 07:48 AM
you know pranks are usually stupid ideas not completely thought out by the people pulling them. this could have really gotten someone hurt and now three young people could really be in some serious trouble all because at the time it was funny. People please think before you do something stupid

Posted by: Ann Location: Durant on Oct 13, 2008 at 01:43 AM
I would hope the brats would be financially responsible for replacement of the cruiser and cost of time wasted by officers and 911 personnel.

Posted by: darrel Location: jones on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Id say not a very good joke if your intention was to get caught. I think poeple like this should be castrated to prevent any further reproduction from them. It is just simply demolishing society having people like this roaming the streets!

Posted by: Bill Location: Ardmore on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:14 PM
Each of these kids deserves at least 1000 hours of community service and a 3 month lock up at the local detention center!!!!

Posted by: Natalie Location: Ada on Oct 12, 2008 at 10:44 PM
They need to spend some time in jail. They need to pay for the car.

Posted by: my opinion on Oct 12, 2008 at 08:36 PM
The kids need to pay for the cruiser. Id also give them some jail time. What idiot gets in the trunk knowing the police would be chasing them. Someone could have got killed. There parents must be so proud.

Posted by: My Thoughts Location: Healdton on Oct 12, 2008 at 08:31 PM
These 3 kids, at the least, should lose their driver's license until they are 21 and they should have to help pay for a new patrol car!!! Ridiculous what stupid people will do for attention!!

Posted by: Baron B. Location: Durant on Oct 12, 2008 at 07:46 PM
I hope they got good insurance. That totalled black and white should be filed with the persons insurance who called in the prank. Kid or not, joke or not, they need to learn.

Posted by: not funny Location: sherman on Oct 12, 2008 at 07:23 PM
i think all three should be responsible for getting a new cruiser out of their own pockets.. bet that wont be too funny when they find out how much it cost!!

Posted by: stupid idea Location: nowhere on Oct 12, 2008 at 07:21 PM
Let the three REALLY pay for their prank- let THEM pay for that car that was totaled and whatever other costs were involved in getting them stopped- they put lives in danger- hope they receive the punchline to their joke in jail!

Posted by: Steve Location: Denison on Oct 12, 2008 at 05:12 PM
"To decide if other charges will be filed?" What's to decide? File everything you can...as "joke"...it's NOT FUNNY! Thank God that trooper is okay...not that these little morons would see the connection...or care!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 12, 2008 at 02:39 PM
I believe I would take their license away from them and they would not be driving for a very long time!!! Make the parents pay a fine for tearing up the police car

Posted by: Shame Location: On them on Oct 12, 2008 at 01:16 PM
Whatever happened to going to the movies if you want to do something? That officer could have died. And the joke wasn't even funny.

Posted by: LSR Location: Oklahom on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:48 AM
How utterly stupid! Kids need to learn that there are consequences to their actions. What if the officers or other people on the road had been hurt or even killed? This is just so ignorant!

Posted by: mb Location: ardmore on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:44 AM
That is just ridiculous! there should be more charges to show that isn't something to play around with.

Posted by: Reva50 Location: Ardmore on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:41 AM
All the pranksters should be required to get jobs and pay off the cost of the cruiser in monthly payments. And a stipulation should be made that the money come from the paychecks; this way no parents can take over the responsibility these people owe.

Posted by: Me Location: Sherman on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:13 AM
I think these 3 and their parents should be responsible for fixing up the wrecked police cruiser or the purchase of a new cruiser! There needs to be some sort of serious consequence to their actions! File the claim on the parents insurance or whoever holds the insurance on the red mustang!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 12, 2008 at 10:53 AM
I hope they get some serious punishment for this! They are old enough to know better!

Posted by: RC Location: Texas on Oct 12, 2008 at 10:42 AM
These kids are hossible kids. Being this type of field for many years I think they need maximium punishment. This is crazy and you know their parents have to be proud of them. I see them in the justice system behind bars really soon.

Posted by: Me Location: Denison on Oct 12, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Thank GOD the officer is not seriously injured. I think there should be more charges filed. That officer could have been badly injured and also a vehicle has to be replaced becasue these kids wanted to play a prank and act stupid. That is unacceptable.

Posted by: disgusted Location: ardmore on Oct 12, 2008 at 08:05 AM
how childish and immature!!! the ohp officer is lucky.. do more to these kids than just a slap on the hand! if kids knew what an officer went through on a daily basis, the actual REAL calls they get, they would not do this kind of thing! make them do some community service and pay for the car out of their own pocket!!!!!!
