6-17-06 - NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Five teens have died in a volley of bullets on a New Orleans street. It's the most violent crime reported in the city since Hurricane Katrina hit last August.
It happened early this morning on a street in the Central City neighborhood just outside the central business district.
The victims ranged in age from 16 to 19. Three were found in a sport utility vehicle rammed against a utility pole and two were found nearby on the street.
Police say they're looking for one or more suspects. Captain John Bryson says police think the shootings were either drug-related or some type of retaliation attack. He says a semiautomatic weapon was used and "multiple, multiple rounds" were fired.
