SHERMAN, Tex. -- The Sherman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a leadership program. Officials met Wednesday morning at City Hall to talk about plans for the nine-month program aimed to educate students about how local, county, and state governments work.

“It's important because I think everybody that lives in our city should take an active role in our city and learn more about the city so that they get involved and possibly on how the city goes and how we want to proceed further in the future,” Sherman Chamber of Commerce president Traci Carlson said.

Chamber leaders say programs like this have been successful in the past. In fact, many city officials are alumni.
