6-27-06 – As local authorities have scaled back the search for a Sherman woman, family members are canvassing neighborhoods with flyers. 79-year-old Una Mae Herd was last seen near her east Sherman home on Sunday. She left for a walk on Harrison Street between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The family tells police Herd takes a walk every Sunday morning before meeting her granddaughter for breakfast. This morning when Herd did not show up, her family called police.
Herd has diabetes and authorities are concerned that she may be at risk because of today’s heat. Police do not suspect foul play at this time.
Herd is a white female. She is five feet tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and short gray hair. Herd was last seen wearing a blue checkered shirt with a white button up shirt over it. She was wearing tan or white Capri pants and sunglasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 903-892-7290. Authorities are asking for volunteers who helped pass out flyers Sunday afternoon and evening.
