6-25-06 – In Love County, all lanes of Interstate 35 are open after months of construction. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation began construction on the first eight miles of I-35 last fall. Since then, numerous traffic accidents have been reported.
Since January, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports more than 50 wrecks. Troopers say they’re relieved most of the construction is over and the lanes have been re-opened. Troopers plan to still heavily patrol the area over the next few weeks while crews, who still have some work to do, finish up.
The next I-35 project will tackle a stretch of interstate between mile markers 24 and 29 in Carter County.
