SISD Nixes Longer School Day Idea

6-27-06 - The Sherman School board decided against adding 30 minutes to the school days this coming school year. During a Thursday night board meeting, the district decided to stick to their current eight to three schedule.

The district was considering adding thirty minutes onto the end of the school day because some teachers and principals had expressed concern that some curriculm, especially math and science, can be difficult to cover given the amount of time they have.

Administrators say they'll continue to look for ways to more efficiently utilize time with students.
