6-30-06 - A Carter County man wanted for a deadly shooting and kidnapping in Dickson has surrendered. 39-year-old James Eric Parker is in the custody of local authorities after they say he shot a man on Thursday.
He surrendered after talks with family and authorities. His estranged wife, Kimberly Gilbert, is safe. Gilbert was taken into custody in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma.
Dickson officers say they received a 911 call just after midnight in the 7000 block of Highway 199 in Dickson on Wednesday.
When they got to the home, they found 44-year-old Danny Watterson dead in a chair with several gunshot wounds, including one to his head. They think this may have been some kind of domestic dispute. They believe the Parker was jealous because the victim had a relationship with Gilbert, who was his soon-to-be ex-wife. Police say Gilbert was then abducted by Parker.
