7-1-06 – State Highway 7 in northwestern Carter County had to be shut down most of Saturday morning and afternoon after a semi-truck rolled, spilling its load of ammonium nitrate, a blasting agent, and some diesel fuel. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the semi rolled on a curve near Tatums around 5:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported and no evacuations were ordered.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shut down the highway to allow crews to clean up the spill. The highway was reopened around six in the evening.
The truck was heading west, on its way to make a delivery in Snyder, Oklahoma.
