Construction Worker Dies in Sherman

7-20-06 - As temperatures hovered at 106 degrees in Sherman, a construction worker collapsed and died on Thursday. It happened at the Woodmont development on the east side of US 75 at Loy Lake Road. Dozens of workers are building several department stores that are set to open this Fall.

Sherman Fire and Rescue crews were on the scene within minutes. A construction supervisor told firefighters the 61-year-old man collapsed. He was lying on the concrete when crews arrived. The worker was rushed to Wilson-N-Jones in critical condition, but died a short time later.

Authorities have not confirmed how he died or if it was heat related. They have confirmed he was from Dallas.

The Woodmont development is across the highway from the Sherman Town Center. It will soon be home to a Kohl's Department store, an Academy sporting goods store and a PetSmart.
