Grandma Busted for Mailing Drugs

7-21-06 - A 66-year-old Tom Bean woman is accused of trying to mail drugs to the Grayson County jail. Investigators say her intent was to get the drugs to her grandson, who is jailed on charges of attempted murder of a police officer.

The following is a news release from the Grayson County Sheriff:

On July 13, 2006 the narcotic unit from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search and arrest warrant on Dale Street in Tom Bean, Texas. The warrant was based on information that the narcotics unit had received concerning Judy Dodson Brown a 66 year old nurse from Tom Bean. Brown was arrested at her home Thursday afternoon for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Brown refused to speak with investigators and was later transported to the Grayson County Jail where her bond was set at $100,000.00.
Narcotic Investigators had information that Brown was attempting to introduce illegal narcotics into the Grayson County Jail via the United States Mail. This mail was intercepted and the illegal substance was found giving Investigators cause to obtain the search and arrest warrant.
It was alleged that Brown was attempting to get the illegal substance to her grandson, Bobby Lee Murphy. Murphy is in the Grayson County Jail on charges of Attempted Capitol Murder of a Police Officer among other charges.
When Investigators search Brown’s home they found sixty three (63) bottles of medication and three (3) vials of liquid substance. The sixty three (63) bottles of medication appeared to be prescribed to numerous patients from a hospital located in Fannin County.
Brown could face numerous other charges from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Postal Inspector.
Brown has been released on the $100,000.00 bond.
