7-24-06 - The following is a news release from the OHP:
On Sunday, July 23, 2006 around 6:30 am the Kingston police department began a vehicle pursuit of a black Ford Mustang for a traffic violation.
The pursuit continued into Bryan County along US 70. The pursuit traveled on county roads south and east of the city of Durant. Officers lost site of the Mustang on dirt county roads. Witnesses reported to Durant police officers that the car was last observed east of Durant traveling east on a county road.
Later in the afternoon Bryan County sheriff deputies received information on a possible suspect driver from the morning pursuit. Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigators were requested to assist Bryan County deputies.
Troopers and deputies watched a location about 10 miles southeast of
Durant. Warrants were confirmed from three separate jurisdictions in Texas on Troy Owen Kiehl. This subject was observed entering a residence.
Troopers and deputies made entry into the home and found Kiehl hiding in a bedroom closet where he was taken into custody.
During a search of the property troopers and deputies found several items of drug paraphernalia, drills, bits, saw blades, and items from other stolen vehicles, in addition to this evidence stolen license plates were located under the residence.
From interviews conducted troopers and deputies believe that Kiehl is
involved in the theft of several coin operated machines at car washes, game rooms, and casinos. Kiehl is believed to be involved in three other stolen vehicles in the north Texas and southern Bryan county area over the last three weeks.
Kiehl and a female accomplice, Shannon Graham are believed to have put the stolen change in money bags and then passed these large sums of coins thru local banking institutions in the Durant area.
Currently the case is being investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigations division along with the Bryan County Sheriff's
department, Kingston PD, Bonham PD, Fannin County Sheriff's department and the Tarrant County auto theft task force in Fort Worth.
Kiehl, a 38-year-old white male from Haltom City, Texas is currently held in the Bryan County jail and charged with being a fugitive from justice based on the felony warrants from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Austin, Texas as a parole violator, the Tarrant County Sheriff's department for car theft, and the Dallas County Sheriff's department for aggravated assault.
Graham a 34 year old white female from Haltom City, Texas is currently held at the Bryan County jail charged with harboring a fugitive and possession of a controlled substance.
