Dallas-Based Search Crew Helps in Sherman

7-29-06 The search for Una Mae Herd is getting some help this weekend from the United Response Search and Rescue Team. Based out of Dallas, organizers arrived in Sherman Friday afternoon to recruit volunteers.

They organized a search effort this the weekend and are looking for about 100 volunteers.

Saturday, about 80 people, including Herd's family, answered the call and searched on foot. The volunteers split into groups. Some searched Herd's east Sherman neighborhood. Another group linked arms and walked through a wooded area, near Herd's home.

Saturday, there was no sign of the missing woman.

The 82-year-old woman has been missing for over a month now. She disappeared on her morning walk on June 25 in Sherman. Her family contacted URSART for help.

To volunteer, meet at Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church in Sherman Sunday morning at eight. Organizers advise against bringing children along.
