Two upper level waves will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Saturday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
08-17-06 - An 11-year-old Texas girl is dead after a semi she was riding in ran off the highway and struck a concrete building in Ardmore.
It happened just before 9:00 AM on I-35 at Exit 31. Troopers say a SORD truck was veering onto the interstate when a semi came up behind it. The semi driver swerved to miss the truck but lost control and ran off into the ditch, slamming into the old Sight and Sound building.
His 11-year-old niece was with him, and she died at the scene. The driver was taken to Mercy Memorial; there is no word yet on his condition.
Right now, Troopers are not releasing the name of the victims yet and they are still trying to determine what caused the crash.
